Dudley Otto is a native of South St. Paul and played goalie at South St. Paul high school. Dudley participated in two State Hockey Tournaments with a 3rd place finish in 1958. He was a member of the WCCO All-State Hockey Team in 1958 where he graduated from in 1958.
Dudley attended the University of North Dakota where he played varsity hockey for 3 years. He was a member of the 1963 NCAA Championship Hockey Team. He graduated from UND in 1964 and began teaching at East Grand Forks public schools and worked with youth hockey programs and assisted Ed Thomlinson and Bill Ryden with high school teams. From 1966-1987, Dudley taught at Owatonna Public Schools and was hockey coach with a record of 232-177-9. He was instrumental in forming the Southern Minnesota Hockey League, and lobbied for true hockey sections in southern Minnesota - made up of only southern teams. Dudley was President of the Minnesota Hockey Coaches Association from 1977-1979, and served as Executive Secretary of Minnesota Hockey Coaches Association from 1982-1988.
