1944:  Mike Karakas recorded his third and final career playoff shutout as the Black Hawks beat the Red Wings 2-0 in Game 3 of their Stanley Cup Semi-Final Series.

1954:  Former NHL right winger Jim Warner born in Minneapolis, MN. Warner played in the NHL 1979-80 with Hartford.

1972:  Gump Worsley recorded his 43rd (and final) career shutout, and Bill Goldsworthy and J.P. Parise each had a goal and two assists as the Minnesota North Stars won 5-0 over the Rangers at New York.

1974:  Danny Grant scored two goals and added an assist in the Minnesota North Stars' 5-1 win against the Los Angeles Kings, at the Met Center.

1976:  Minnesota Golden Gophers capture the schools second NCAA Hockey National Championship in a 6-4 win over Michigan Tech at DU Arena, Denver CO.

1978:  Kent-Erik Andersson scored twice and added an assist and Roland Eriksson had three assists as the Minnesota North Stars lost 6-3 to the Islanders, at New York.

1980:  Dave Christian scored 3 straight goals (his first career hat trick) and added an assist all in the 3rd period,  as the Winnipeg Jets recorded the first home shutout in team history, a 7-0 win over the visiting Hartford Whalers.

1981:  After winning the Gold Medal in the Olympic Winter Games, Neal Broten returns to the Gophers and leads the team to the NCAA Finals. 

1982:  Aaron Broten scored two goals and an assist, and Bob MacMillan had a goal and two assists as the Colorado Rockies tied 6-6 with the visiting Edmonton Oilers.

1983:  Jim Korn scored a goal and added an assist as the Maple Leafs won 2-1 over the Quebec Nordiques, in Toronto.

1984:  Brian Lawton became the first rookie in Minnesota North Stars history to score a regular season overtime goal when he connected at 2:41 of OT for a 4-3 win over the visiting St. Louis Blues.

1985:  Rangers' Mark Pavelich scored two goals and added two assists as New York won 5-4 against the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins.

1986:  Dino Ciccarelli and Scott Bjugstad each scored twice and added an assist to lead the Minnesota North Stars to a 6-1 win over the Maple Leafs, at Toronto.

1986:  Minnesota North Stars' center Neal Broten became the first U.S. born player to score 100 points in a season.  He reached the century mark with two assists in a 6-1 victory at Toronto.

1987:  Buffalo defenseman Phil Housley scored his 100th career NHL goal as the Sabres lost 5-3 to the visiting Los Angeles Kings.

1987:  Brian Lee, from Moorhead, MN birthday.

1990:  Goaltender Jon Casey became the first goalie in North Stars history to win 30 games in a season, with 42 saves as Minnesota won 5-4 over the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs.

1994:  Devils set a club record with their 25th home victory, when Tom Chorske scored twice and added an assist in a 7-2 win over the visiting Philadelphia Flyers.

2000:  Sean Hill set a Hurricanes team record for defensemen with 10 shots, picking up three assists in a 4-1 win over the visiting New York Islanders.

2002:  Antti Laaksonen scored on a penalty shot as the Wild won 2-1 against the Blues at St. Louis.

2006:  Kyle Calder tied the game with 1:12 left in regulation, and Tom Preissing scored the winning goal at 1:24 of overtime as the Sharks won 5-4 over the Blackhawks at Chicago. Joe Thornton had three assists to give him six in two days.

2008:  Minnesota's Niklas Backstrom became the 2nd goalie in team history to win 30 games in a season, and Mikko Koivu had three assists as the Wild recorded the 250th win in franchise history, 3-1 over the visiting Edmonton Oilers.

2008:  Jacques Lemaire picked up his 250th coaching victory with Minnesota when the Wild beat the visiting Edmonton Oilers 3-1.

2011:  Henrik Lundqvist became the 2nd goalie in Rangers history to get 11 shutouts in one season (35th of his career) and Hastings, MN native Derek Stepan became the 1st Rangers rookie since 1953 to score the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win, when the Rangers won at Boston.

2015:  N.Y. Rangers Forward, and Hastings, MN native - Derek Stepan had 2 assists to earn the #3 Star of the Night in the Rangers' 5-1 win over Ottawa Senators.

2015:  Washington Capitals Defenseman, and Virginia, MN native - Matt Niskanen scored the game-winning goal in OT to earn the #1 Star of the Night in the Capitals' 3-2 win over the New Jersey Devils.
