1970:  Former NHL defenseman Travis Richards born in Crystal, MN.  Richards played in the NHL 1994-95 through 1995-96 with Dallas.

1981:  Paul Holmgren had the first (of two) four point games of his NHL career as the Flyers beat the Flames 6-2 at the Spectrum.  Holmgren had two goals and two assists.

1981:  Dino Ciccarelli set a Minnesota North Stars rookie record with four goals (the first hat trick of his NHL career) in a 9-3 win over Detroit.

1982:  Former NHL defenseman Tim Conboy born in Farmington, MN.  Conboy played in the NHL 2007-08 through 2009-10 with Carolina Hurricaines.

1990:  Neal Broten became Minnesota's all-time leading scorer, and Brian Bellows became the second player in team history to score 50 goals in a season as the North Stars won 5-1, at Detroit.

1991:  Toronto's rookie goaltender Damian Rhodes picked up a victory in his NHL debut, and Toronto defenseman Luke Richardson ran up 22 penalty minutes (wth two majors, a minor and a misconduct) in a 3-1 win at Detroit.

1993:  Buffalo traded Mike Ramsey to Pittsburgh in exchange for Bob Errey.

1995:  Neal Broten scored a goal and added two assists to lead the Devils to a 5-2 win over the Rangers, at New York.

1998:  Shjon Podein scored at 4:39 of overtime to lead the Flyers to a 5-4 win against the NY Rangers, in Philadelphia.

1999:  Calgary Flames acquired left wing Tom Chorske from the Washington Capitals for future considerations.

2000:  Goaltender Damian Rhodes set a team record with 48 saves to lead the expansion Atlanta Thrashers to a 1-1 tie against the visiting Montreal Canadiens.

2007:  Minnesota goaltender Niklas Backstrom set a team record with his seventh straight win as the Wild tied a team record with their 25th home win of the season, a 5-1 victory over the visiting St. Louis Blues.

2008:  Minnesota's Pierre-Marc Bouchard picked up two assists (in a 5-4 loss at Calgary) to give him 49 for the season, a new team record. He broke the record of 48 set by Andrew Brunette in 2001-02.

2009:  Niklas Backstrom improved to 10-0-0 with a 1.09 GAA in in 10 career home games against Edmonton as the Wild beat the visiting Oilers 3-0. It was his 7th shutout of the season and the 16th of his career.

2015:  The 2015 NCAA Women's Hockey Frozen Four Championship held at Ridder Arena on the University of Minnesota campus (March 20th & 22nd).  The game matched the home-town Gophers vs. the visiting Harvard Crimson in which the Gopher Womens' team captured the schools 6th National Championship in a 4-1 win. (2000, 2004, 2005, 2012, 2013, 2015)
