1934:  Former NHL defenseman Bob McCord born in Matheson, Ontario.  Bob played in the NHL 1963 through 1973 with Boston Bruins, Detroit Red Wings, Minnesota North Stars and St. Louis Blues.  

1941:  Frank Brimsek made 27 saves and Boston had 50 shots on goal as the Bruins opened their Stanley Cup Semi-Final series with a 3-0 win against Toronto, at Boston Garden.

1975:  Minnesota scored four goals in the final period as the North Stars beat the Capitals 5-1 for their first road victory in Washington.

1977:  Ernie Hicke scored a goal and an assist and Tim Young had two assists to lead the Minnesota North Stars to a 2-1 win over the Red Wings at the Met Center.

1979:  Defenseman Reed Larson scored a goal and added two assists to lead the Red Wings to a 5-3 win over the Black Hawks at the Olympia.

1988:  Dino Ciccarelli scored a goal and added two assists as the North Stars tied 5-5 with the Oilers in Minnesota.

1989:  Stewart Gavin and Dave Gagner each scored twice, and the North Stars defense limited the Penguins to 12 shots in the first two periods as Minnesota won 7-2 at Met Center.  For the game the North Stars outshot Pittsburgh 44-23.  Pittsburgh's Paul Coffey became the first defenseman in NHL history to score 100 points in a season with two teams, when he got an assist for his 100th point of the year.

1989:  Aaron Broten had a goal and two assists to lead the Devils to a 3-1 win over the Canucks, in New Jersey.

1989:  Tom Kurvers broke Dave Pichette's record for most points in a season by a Devils' defenseman (set in 1984-85) when he collected his 58th point of the year with an assist as New Jersey won 3-1 over the Canucks.

1990:  Minnesota rookie Mike Modano picked up three assists to lead the North Stars to a 5-2 win over the visiting Los Angeles Kings.

1991:  NHL defenseman Nick Leddy born in Eden Prairie, MN.  Leddy has played in the NHL since 2010-11 with Chicago, and New York Islanders.

1992:  NHL defenseman Justin Faulk born in South St. Paul, MN.  Faulk has played in the NHL since 2011-12 with Carolina.

1994:  Paul Broten scored the winning goal 13 seconds into overtime to lead the Stars to a 2-1 win over the Canucks in Dallas.

2000:  Minnesota Wild celebrates the franchises 12,000th season ticket sold.

2002:  Jamie Langenbrunner and Joe Nieuwendyk played in their first game with New Jersey and Nieuwendyk picked up an assist in the Devils 3-1 win over the Blackhawks at Chicago.

2004:  Bret Hedican scored the winning goal at 4:00 of overtime to lead the Hurricanes to a 3-2 win over the Senators at Ottawa.

2007:  Marian Gaborik and Pavol Demitra each scored a goal and added an assist as the Wild set franchise records for consecutive victories with 7 and season victories with 43, a 3-2 win over the visiting Phoenix Coyotes.

2008:  Keith Ballard tying the game with 24 seconds remaining in regulation, but Tom Preissing scored twice and Patrick O'Sullivan scored the lone goal in the shootout as Los Angeles ended their 6 game losing streak to the Coyotes with a 6-5 at Phoenix.

2013:  Devin Setoguchi scored twice and Niklas Backstrom made 36 saves to lead the Wild to their fourth straight victory, a 4-2 win at Detroit.

2015:  The 2015 NCAA Women's Hockey Frozen Four Championship held at Ridder Arena on the University of Minnesota campus (March 20th & 22nd).

2016:  The 2016 NCAA Women's Hockey Frozen Four Championship held at Whittemore Center Arena in Durham, NH (March 18-20).  The Championship game matched the undefeated Boston College Eagles (40-0-0) vs. the away Minnesota Golden Gophers (34-4-1) in which the Gopher Womens' team captured the schools 7th National Championship in a 3-1 win, and 3rd Back-to-Back Championship. (2000, 2004, 2005, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016)
