1948:  Detroit goalie Harry Lumley and Bruins' Frankie Brimsek dueled to a 0-0 scoreless tie, in a game played at Boston.  It was the 34th career shutout for Brimsek.

1949:  Former NHL defenseman Bruce McIntosh born in Minneapolis, MN.  McIntosh played in the NHL 1972-73 with the Minnesota North Stars.

1968:  Dave Balon scored once, tied a team record with three assists and set a club record with four points as the North Stars won 5-1 over Detroit, at the Met Center.

1970:  Bill Goldsworthy scored twice and added two assists to lead the North Stars to a 5-5 tie against the Blues, at St. Louis.

1973:  Danny Grant scored twice and added an assist to lead the North Stars to a 4-3 win over the Kings, at L.A.

1977 : Gary Sargent scored his 14th goal of the year -- most ever by a Kings defenseman (up 'til that time) to help the Kings to a 3-2 win over the Red Wings at the Forum.

1977:  The 33rd annual MSHSL State Boys High School Hockey Tournament is held at the St. Paul Civic Center from March 17-19th.

1984:  Mark Napier scored a goal and added two assists to lead the North Stars to a 4-3 win over the Red Wings at Detroit.

1986:  Dave Christian scored twice to hit the 35-goal mark and led the Capitals to a 5-3 win against the Penguins, at Pittsburgh.

1986:  Minnesota's Dino Ciccarelli became the 1st player in NHL history to score in the first minute of a game and the last minute of overtime when he connected at 4:35 of OT for his 10th career hat trick (and 200th career goal) in a 6-5 win over the Blues.

1988:  Minnesota's Moe Mantha scored with 7:51 remaining in regulation to help end a North Stars' team-record 8 game road losing streak, with a 2-2 tie at St. Louis.

1990:  Minnesota rookie Mike Modano scored his first NHL hat trick to lead the North Stars to a 6-2 win over the Penguins, at Pittsburgh.

1991:  North Stars tied a team record with their 13th straight home game without a loss.  A 4-3 win over Toronto made them 11-0-2 in their previous 13 games, tying a record set in 1972-73.

1991:  Chicago rookie Mike Peluso scored a goal and picked up 25 penalty minutes in a 6-4 win over the visiting St. Louis Blues.

1992:  Brian Bellows had a goal and two assists in the second period to give the North Stars a 3-1 win over Buffalo, in Minnesota.

1996:  Damian Rhodes recorded his second consecutive (and second career) shutout (and Ottawa's first ever against T.B.) as the Senators won 5-0 over the visiting Lightning. The Senators also set a franchise record, with their 15th win of the season.

1999:  Calgary's Phil Housley scored his 300th career NHL goal in a 3-1 loss at Chicago.  Housley became the 4th defenseman in NHL history (along with Paul Coffey, Ray Bourque & Denis Potvin) to score 300 goals.

2001:  Shjon Podein scored a goal in the final 2:27 of regulation to lead the Avalanche to a 5-3 win against the visiting Red Wings.

2002:  Marian Gaborik had two goals and Andrew Brunette added two assists to help the Wild to a 2-2 against the visiting Phoenix Coyotes.

2002:  Minnesota's Jim Dowd extended his team-record assist streak to 8 straight games with two assists in a 2-2 tie against the visiting Coyotes.

2003:  Andrew Brunette was named the #1 Star of the Game with a goal and an assist in a 3-3 tie against the Lightning, in Tampa Bay.

2007:  Brian Rolston and Pavol Demitra scored in the third period to break a 2-2 tie as the Minnesota Wild ended a seven-game losing streak in Calgary with a 4-2 win over the Flames.

2008:  Brent Burns set a team record for defensemen with his 7th power play goal of the season and added an assist to become the first defenseman in Minnesota team history to get 40 points in a season, in a 3-1 win over the visiting Colorado Avalanche.

2009:  Defenseman Marek Zidlicky scored his third shootout goal of the season to lead the Wild to a 3-2 win over the visiting Colorado Avalanche.

2015:  Minnesota Wild set a franchise record with it's eighth-straight road victory in a 3-2 OT win over the Nashville Predators led by Minnesota Wild 2 goals from Charlie Coyle.  Matt Dumba scored at :22 into OT for his 7th goal of the season, and his 1st career overtime game winning goal.  The goal by Dumba marked a Wild franchise record for the fastest OT goal on the road at 22 seconds in (record previously held by Marian Gaborik: 0:25 on 10-18-2006).  Goaltender Devan Dubnyk moved to 21-5-1 with a 1.67 GAA, a .939 Save %, with 5 shut-outs in 287 straight games, including 12-1-1 on the road in 15 starts.

2015:  Winnipeg Jets forward, Blake Wheeler (Plymouth, MN native), had 2 goals and 1 assist to earn the #2 Star of the Night in the Jets' 5-2 win vs. the San Jose Sharks.

2015:  St. Louis Blues Forward, David Backes (Spring Lake Park, MN native) had 1 goal and 2 assists to earn the #2 Star of the Night in the Blues' 4-0 win over Calgary Flames.
