1978:  Mark Heaslip tied a New York Rangers' team rookie record with four assists in an 8-2 win over Washington.

1981:  The 37th annual MSHSL State Boys High School Hockey Tournament is held at the St. Paul Civic Center from March 12-14th.

1983:  New Jersey's Aaron Broten tied a team record with four assists as the Devils won 7-3 at Montreal.

1983:  NHL center Mikko Koivu born in Turku, Finland.  Koivu has played in the NHL since 2005-06 with the Minnesota Wild.

1984:  Tom McCarthy scored his second career hat trick in just 5:15, including the winning goal at 0:10 of OT to lead the North Stars to a 7-6 win over Montreal, in Minnesota.  Teammate Neal Broten added a goal and three assists.

1987:  The 43rd annual MSHSL State Boys High School Hockey Tournament is held at the St. Paul Civic Center from March 12-14th.

1988:  Marc Habscheid scored twice and added an assist to lead the Minnesota North Stars to a 6-3 win over the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins.

1988:  Tom Kurvers had two goals and an assist as the Devils won 6-5, at Philadelphia.

1990:  Minnesota's Brian Bellows began a team-record 10 game goal scoring streak in the North Stars' 4-1 win at Toronto.

1991:  Winnipeg Jets' Phil Housley scored his 200th career NHL goal, in a 5-3 loss at Calgary.  It was his 22nd of the season, tying him for the club record for goals in a season by a defenseman, set by Dave Ellett in 1988-89.

1991:  Minnesota North Stars extended their team-record home undefeated streak to 12 straight games (10-0-2) with a 5-2 win over the Buffalo Sabres.

1994:  The Warroad Warriors capture it's first State High School Hockey Championship in the "Tourney".

2003:  Despite being outshot 33-19 by the visiting Dallas Stars, Manny Fernandez made 31 saves as the Wild scored four first-period goals and reached the 20 home win milestone for the first time in team history with a 4-2 victory over the visiting Dallas Stars.

2006:  Brian Rolston had two goals and two assists to give him 69 points for the season, tying a franchise record set by Andrew Brunette in 2001-02; the milestone came in a 4-3 win over the visiting Edmonton Oilers.

2006:  Manny Fernandez became the first goalie in Minnesota Wild history to win 25 games in one season after a 4-3 win over the visiting Edmonton Oilers.

2009:  Zach Parise scored his 40th goal of the season just 18 seconds into the game to lead the Penguins to a 5-2 win over the visiting Phoenix Coyotes.

2009:  Kyle Okposo scored 26 seconds into overtime to give the Islanders a 3-2 victory in Montreal.

2009:  Minnesota's Niklas Backstrom made 40 saves in a 2-1 shootout loss in Colorado.

2010:  Andrew Ebbett and Guillaume Latendresse scored in the first 10 minutes of the game and Josh Harding made 43 saves and also picked up an assist to lead the Wild to a 3-2 win.

2013:  Ottawa Senators acquired Matt Kassian from Minnesota in exchange for a sixth-round draft pick in 2014.
