1937:  Fred Cook became the first member of the Boston Bruins to take two penalty shots in one game, when he missed twice against Chicago's Mike Karakas in a 4-2 loss to Chicago, at Boston Garden. 

1960:  New York Rangers signed goaltender Jack McCartan to 5 game amateur tryout following his stellar Gold Medal winning performance in the 1960 Winter Olympic Games held at Squaw Valley.

1968:  Wayne Connelly scored his second career hat trick in the Minnesota North Stars' 3-2 win against the Montreal Canadiens.

1971:  Wayne Cashman scored to make the Boston Bruins the first team in NHL history with nine 20+ goal scorers in one season.  The milestone came in a 6-0 win over the North Stars, in Minnesota.

1980:  Al MacAdam scored a goal and added an assist to lead the North Stars to a 2-2 tie against the Sabres in Minnesota.

1980:  Following the 1980 USA Miracle on Ice Gold Medal Championship - the City of Roseau held a welcome home salute reception for home-town hero Neal Broten, held at Roseau High School gym beginning at 2:30 P.M.  Neal adorning his gold medal on his neck, and USA Olympian jump suit was welcomed home to a packed gym and thunderous applause. 

1980:  Winnipeg rookie Dave Christian (Warroad, MN native) scored the first goal of his NHL career just seven seconds into his first NHL shift at 1:07 of the 1st period on Chicago goaltender Mike Veisor, in a 3-2 Jets' loss to the visiting Chicago Black Hawks at Winnipeg Arena.  Assists on Christians' goal came from Lukowich and Cory.

1982:  Pittsburgh traded Mark Johnson to the Minnesota North Stars for North Stars’ 2nd round pick in 1982 Entry Draft.

1983:  Minnesota North Stars signed goaltender Jim Craig as a free agent.

1985:  Williams Arena hockey section/side, on the University of Minnesota campus, was renamed Mariucci Arena after the 'Godfather of Minnesota Hockey' John Mariucci on February 8, 1985.  Today was proclaimed as "John Mariucci Day" in Minnesota by then serving Governor Rudy Perpich in special recognition of John's exceptional contributions to Minnesota Hockey.

1985:  Gordie Roberts picked up three assists to lead the North Stars to a 5-2 win against Detroit in Minnesota.

1987:  Minnesota North Stars traded Kent Nilsson to Edmonton in exchange for future considerations.

1989:  The 45th annual MSHSL State Boys High School Hockey Tournament is held at the St. Paul Civic Center from March 2-4th.

1990:  Kings' goaltender Robb Stauber started his first NHL game -- and gave up three goals in three minutes before being pulled in Winnipeg. Los Angeles lost 9-3 to the Jets.

1991:  Mike Ramsey played in his 800th career NHL game as the Sabres won 7-4 at Boston, to extend their unbeaten streak to 5 games (3-0-2).

1992:  NHL right wing Charlie Coyle born in East Weymouth, Mass.  Coyle has played in the NHL since 2012-13 with Minnesota Wild, and Boston Bruins.

1996:  Minnesota State University Mavericks played their last game as a Division II-III member, falling at home 4-3 to eventual National Champions Alabama Huntsville.

2002:  Minnesota Wild set a team record for most penalty minutes in a game, with 57 in a 6-3 loss at Vancouver.  Matt Johnson became the first player in team history to get 150 penalty minutes in one season, and also had a goal.

2005:  The 61st annual MSHSL State Boys High School Hockey Tournament is held at the Xcel Energy Center/Mariucci Arena from March 2-5th.

2006:  Marian Gaborik took 9 shots on goal for the Wild, scoring twice in a 3-2 loss in Los Angeles.

2008:  Marian Gaborik took 9 shots, scoring a goal and adding an assist, and Martin Skoula scored at 3:45 of overtime to lead the Wild to a 2-1 win over the visiting Los Angeles Kings. Minnesota took sole possession of the Northwest Division lead.

2012:  Minneapolis, MN native Zach Parise scored his second career hat trick in a span of 11:39 to and Johan Hedberg recorded his 20th career shutout to lead the Devils to a 5-0 win at Washington.

2015:  San Jose Sharks Goaltender (South St. Paul, MN native) Alex Stalock made 20 saves in the Sharks 4-0 Win over Montreal to earn the #1 Star of the Night.

2015:  Minnesota Wild acquired Chris Stewart from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for a second-round selection in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.  With the trade, it marked the third consecutive year that Wild General Manager struck a deal with the Buffalo Sabres at the NHL trade deadline.

2015:  Minnesota Wild acquired Golden Valley, MN native Defenseman (Former Armstrong H.S., Golden Gopher, and Hobey Baker Award winner) Jordan Leopold from the Columbus Bluejackets in exchange for Justin Falk and a fifth-round pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.  The trade of Jordan Leopold was highlighted across the NHL and Minnesota by a hand-written letter from Jordans' 11 year old daughter Jordyn Leopold requesting the Minnesota Wild to "Bring her Daddy home because we miss him, and he is lonely for us".

2016:  The 72nd annual MSHSL State Boys High School Hockey Tournament is held at the Xcel Energy Center and Mariucci Arena from March 2nd-5th.
