1941:  Turk Broda recorded his 25th career shutout when the Maple Leafs tied 0-0 with the visiting Bruins.  Frankie Brimsek picked up the shutout for Boston, as the Bruins extended their team-record road undefeated streak to 12 straight games (7-0-5).

1970:  Bloomington Ice Garden groundbreaking took place on May 17, 1969 and the arena (later renamed rink #1) completed, and dedicated today in 1970 for Bloomington, MN first indoor arena.

1970:  Cesare Maniago recorded his 11th career shutout to lead the North Stars to an 8-0 win over Toronto in Minnesota.  Bill Collins scored his 1st career hat trick, J.P. Parise had two goals and two assists, and Bill Goldsworthy added a goal and three assists.

1970:  Minnesota coach Charlie Burns became the final player/coach in NHL history, when he dressed and played in an 8-0 North Stars' win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.  Burns remained player/coach for the final month of the season.

1970:  Minnesota North Stars ended their team-record 20 game winless streak (0-15-5) with an 8-0 win over the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs.  Cesare Maniago recorded the shutout for the North Stars.

1973:  New York Islanders traded Don Blackburn to the Minnesota North Stars for cash.

1975:  While the Minnesota Fighting Saints of the WHA were eliminated in the semifinals, the squads farm club located in Johnstown, PA NAHL Jets completed a four-game sweep of the Broome Dusters from Binghamton.  The win was that of a Cinderella comeback story, that led for the real-life screenplay and was soon immortalized in the cult classic movie "Slap-Shot" that featured at least nine of the original Jets players in the making of the film.

1979:  Glen Sharpley scored twice and added an assist and Mike Fidler had a goal and two assists in the Minnesota North Stars' 5-5 tie against the Sabres, at Buffalo.

1983:  Reed Larson scored a goal and added two assists to lead the Red Wings to a 5-5 tie against the Nordiques in Quebec City.

1985:  Calgary rookie Joel Otto recorded his first career NHL point (an assist) in a 6-4 Flames' win vs Montreal.

1986:  Tom McCarthy and Willi Plett each scored two goals to lead the North Stars to a 5-4 win against the Islanders in Minnesota.

1987:  Capitals' Dave Christian extended his team-record consecutive game assist streak to 9 games as Washington won 7-3 over the visiting NY Rangers.  Christian scored 11 assists during the 9 game streak, tying the team record set by Bengt Gustafsson.

1992:  Paul Broten scored his first NHL hat trick to lead the Rangers to a 9-2 win over the Hartford Whalers, in New York.  It was also the 300th NHL victory for coach Roger Neilson, and the 100th NHL game for Rangers' goalie Mike Richter.

1992:  Minnesota North Stars picked up 172 penalty minutes in a 5-3 victory over the visitng Buffalo Sabres.

1997:  Flyers' Trent Klatt scored his first NHL career hat trick as Philadelphia tied the Bruins, 5-5 at Boston.  The three goals gave Klatt 20 for the season - for the first time in his five year NHL career.

1999:  Theo Fleury and Shjon Podein scored their first goals as members of the Avalanche in a 4-3 loss to the visiting Oilers.

2001:  Carolina Hurricanes obtained Scott Pellerin from Minnesota, in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2001 entry draft, rights to Russian prospect Askhat Rakhmatullin and future considerations.

2003:  Devils trailed 1-0 with less than 5 minutes left to play, but Jamie Langenbrunner tied the game with 32.6 seconds remaining in regulation, and set up Scott Stevens' goal at 2:54 of overtime as the Devils won 2-1 against the visiting Washington Capitals.

2006:  Craig Anderson recorded his second career shutout, and rookie defenseman Dustin Byfuglien scored the game winning goal in his first career NHL game as the Blackhawks won 3-0 over the visiting Nashville Predators.

2007: Minnesota's rookie goalie Josh Harding recorded his second career shutout, and Pavol Demitra scored twice and added an assist for his ninth straight 20-goal season, as the Wild won 5-0 over the Oilers at Edmonton.

2008:  Jordan Leopold set a career high with three assists as Colorado won 5-2 against the visiting Los Angeles Kings.

2009:  Martin Brodeur became just the second goaltender in NHL history to record 100 career shutouts and Jamie Langenbrunner scored his 200th career NHL goal as the Devils beat the visiting Philadelphia Flyers 3-0.

2010:  Pittsburgh Penguins acquired Jordan Leopold from the Florida Panthers in exchange for a 2010 second-round draft pick.

2012:  Minnesota rookie Matt Kassian scored the first two goals of his NHL career and the Wild scored three times in the final four minutes of regulation to earn a point, before losing a shootout to the Canadiens, 5-4 in Montreal.

2015:  Minnesota Wild Goaltender Devan Dubnyk named the NHL's Player of the Month (renamed) - First Star of the Month for the month of February.

2016:  Wild traded goaltender Niklas Backstrom and a sixth round draft pick to Calgary Flames.  (Wild received David Jones in return in draft).
