1950:  The 6th annual MSHSL State Boys High School Hockey Tournament is held at the St. Paul Auditorium from Feb. 23-25th.

1955:  1 day prior to the 11th annual (1955) State Boys High School Hockey Tournament, the Chicago Blackhawks played a home game at the St. Paul Auditorium vs. visiting Boston Bruins in a 3-3 tie.  This marked the 1st ever NHL game played in Minnesota that was billed as a fundraiser to send the U.S. Olympic Team to the 1956 Olympic Games in Italy.  (From 1952-1956 Blackhawks played numerous home games outside of Chicago in other cities within the Midwest).

1956:  The 12th annual MSHSL State Boys High School Hockey Tournament is held at the St. Paul Auditorium from Feb. 23-25th.

1961:  The 17th annual MSHSL State Boys High School Hockey Tournament is held at the St. Paul Auditorium from Feb. 23-25th.

1967:  The 23rd annual MSHSL State Boys High School Hockey Tournament is held at the St. Paul Auditorium from Feb. 23-25th.

1969:  Minnesota's Danny Grant tied a team record for most goals by a rookie with his second career hat trick in the North Stars' 7-2 win against the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs.

1979:  Al MacAdam had two assists to lead the Minnesota North Stars to a 2-2 tie with the Flames in Atlanta.

1980:  Defenseman Brad Maxwell scored two goals and added an assist to lead the North Stars to a 6-3 win against the NY Rangers in Minnesota.

1983:  NY Rangers' Mark Pavelich became the first U.S. born player to score five goals in a game, in an 11-3 victory over the Hartford Whalers.  The five goals tied a Rangers record set by Don Murdoch in 1976-77.  It was Pavelich's second career hat trick.

1984:  Philadelphia Flyers traded Paul Holmgren to the Minnesota North Stars in exchange for the rights to Paul Guay and a 3rd round draft pick in 1985 (Darryl Gilmour).

1987:  NHL defenseman Kris Fredheim born in Campbell River, B.C. Fredheim has played in the NHL since 2011-12 with Minnesota.

1988:  Sean Foley accepts a scholarship from Colorado College.  He is the 82nd St. Paul Vulcan hockey player to be tendered by a major college institution.

1990:  NHL defenseman Marco Scandella born in Montreal, Quebec. Scandella has played in the NHL since 2010-11 with Minnesota.

1991:  Defenseman Mike Ramsey picked up his 300th career NHL point with a goal as the Sabres beat the Whalers 5-4 at Hartford.

1994:  Robb Stauber recorded his only career shutout, and the Kings' first ever against Dallas, a 0-0 tie against visiting Stars.  It was the first Kings' scoreless tie since Oct. 18, 1977, and the NHL's only scoreless tie in 1993-94.

2003:  Minnesota Wild picked up their 30th win of the season for the first time in team history, with a 3-1 win over the visiting Blues.

2005:  Wes Walz scored 1:53 into the game then added another goal 5 1/2 minutes later to lead the Wild to a 3-1 win over the visiting St. Louis Blues.

2008:  Matt Cullen scored two power-play goals and added an assist as the Hurricanes won at home for the 6th time in 7 games, 6-3 over the visiting Washington Capitals.

2012:  Niklas Backstrom made 41 saves and Matt Cullen and Erik Christensen added shootout goals to give the Wild a 3-2 victory over the Panthers in Florida.
