1946:  Former NHL right winger Bob Cook born in Sudbury, Ont. Cook played in the NHL 1970-71 through 1974-75 with Vancouver, Detroit, the New York Islanders and the Minnesota North Stars.

1948:  Warroad High School forward - Max Oshie notched a Minnesota High School hockey record 12 goals vs. Thief River Falls and Prowlers Goaltender Ralph Engelstad.  The game was playing in Warroad, MN outdoor rink in center of town at 15 below zero temperatures.

1964:  Former NHL defenseman Guy Gosselin born in Rochester, Minnesota.  Gosselin played in the NHL 1987-88 through 1990-91 with Winnipeg.

1973:  Former NHL defenseman Scott Ferguson born in Camrose, Alta.  Ferguson played in the NHL 1997-98 through 217-18 with Edmonton, Anaheim and the Minnesota Wild.

1977:  Tim Young scored a goal and added two assists to lead the Minnesota North Stars to a 7-2 win against Detroit at the Met Center.

1985:  Devils' Aaron Broten extended his team-record point scoring streak to 12 straight games as New Jersey lost 5-4 to the Rangers, in New York.

1988:  Dennis Maruk scored twice and added an assist as the Minnesota North Stars tied 5-5 with the Maple Leafs at Toronto.

1988:  Dino Ciccarelli attacked/assaulted then Maple Leafs rookie Defenseman Luke Richardson with his stick over his head, and punched him in the mouth.  Dino was ejected from the game at Maple Leaf Gardens, and later given a 10 game suspension.  Richardson was wearing a helmet and was not injured in the incident.  Ciccarelli was later brought before Toronto Judge Sidney Harris, on August 24, 1988 and was given a 1,000 fine and A 1 day jail sentence.  It was the first time a NHL player received a jail term for an on-ice attack on another player. Ciccarelli was later released when his lawyer, Don Houston filed an appeal.

1989:  After a three month holdout, the Minnesota North Stars signed their #1 draft pick Mike Modano to a four year contract.

1993:  Shane Churla picked up 29 penalty minutes for the Minnesota North Stars in a 5-1 loss at New Jersey.

1994:  Neal Broten scored a goal and three assists, Russ Courtnall picked up four assists and Darcy Wakaluk was in goal for the Dallas Stars' first shutout ever against Philadelphia, a 8-0 win over the visiting Flyers.

2001:  Minnesota's Sean O’Donnell set a team record for most penalty minutes in a game by a defenseman when he picked up 24 PIM in a 5-1 loss at St. Louis.

2009:  Marek Zidlicky became the first defenseman in Minnesota history to score the only goal in a 1-0 win and Niklas Backstrom made 28 saves for his second consecutive shutout (the 14th of his career) as the Wild beat the Bruins 1-0 in Boston.

2010:  Minnesota Wild played their 700th regular-season game in franchise history, a 4-1 win over the visiting Calgary Flames.  Eric Belanger led the scoring with two goals.

2011:  Cal Clutterbuck had a goal and an assist as the Minnesota Wild became the first team in NHL history to win each of their first 6 games in Boston, with a 3-1 win over the Bruins.

2013:  NHL lock-out ended (That began back on September 15, 2012).

2015:  St. Louis Blues forward, and Spring Lake Park, MN native - David Backes tied a career high 4 goals (3 of which were a natural hat-trick) in the teams 6-0 win over the Arizona Coyotes to earn the #1 Star of the Night.  T.J. Oshie (Warroad, MN) had 3 assists in the game to earn the #2 Star of the Night.

2015:  Minnesota Wild lost to the visiting San Jose Sharks in OT 4-3. The attendance was marked at 19,043 - The 50th consecutive Xcel Energy Center sellout - including playoff games.
