1965: Former NHL defenseman Paul Jerrard born in Winnipeg, Man. Jerrard played in the NHL 1988-89 with the Minnesota North Stars and later coached with Colorado and Dallas.
1988: New Jersey's Aaron Broten scored the first playoff hat trick in Devils' history (and set a team playoff record with 2 goals and an assist in the second period) to lead the Devils to a 5-2 win at Washington, in Game 2 of the Patrick Division Finals.
1991: Minnesota North Stars lost to the St. Louis Blues 5-2 in Game 2 of the Norris Division Finals at St. Louis Arena. Brian Bellows and Stew Gavin each had 1 goal for the North Stars. Adam Oates and Jeff Brown each had 1G, and 1A for the Blues in the win.
1999: The L.A. Kings signed University of North Dakota center, and Moorhead MN native - Jason Blake to a contract. Blake was signed two days after scoring a goal in his first NHL game (on a tryout basis). Blake had led the WCHA with 69 points in 38 games in 1998-99.
2015: Minnesota Wild defeated the visiting St. Louis Blues 3-0 in game 3 of the Western Conference playoff series. In his third career playoff game, Goaltender Devan Dubnyk stopped 17 Blues shots, earning his 1st career playoff shutout, and the first since Wild Goaltender Ilya Bryzgalovs' shut-out on 5-6-2014 vs. Chicago Blackhawks in game 3.
