1954:  Former Gophers Hockey, 1980 Miracle On Ice, and WHA forward - William "Buzz" Schneider born in Grand Rapids, MN (raised in Babbitt, MN)

1961:  Former NHL left winger Brad Palmer born in Duncan, British Columbia.  Palmer played in the NHL 1980-81 through 1982-83 with the Minnesota North Stars and Boston.

1962:  Former NHL defenseman Tom Kurvers born in Minneapolis, MN.  Kurvers played in the NHL 1984-85 thru 1994-95 with Montreal, Buffalo, New Jersey, Toronto, Vancouver, the NY Islanders, and Anaheim. He later coached with Phoenix, and served as Assistant GM with Minnesota Wild.

1979:  Minnesota North Stars signed Tom Younghans as a free agent.

1995:  The crew at Christian Bros. Hockey Sticks in Warroad, MN built a 107 ft. stick of white and yellow aspen with a finished weight of 7,000lbs.  On this date the stick was lifted and secured into its present position through the donations of many local contractors time and equipment in downtown historic Eveleth, MN.

1996:  U.S. captured first place Gold Medal in the 1996 World Cup of Hockey, with Minnesota natives: Phil Housley (South St. Paul) and Joel Otto (Elk River) on the roster following a best of three series win over Canada held September 10-14th. 
 
2002:  Minnesota Wild named Bob Mason as their new Assistant Coach.

2012:  Minnesota Wild re-signed Forward(s) David McIntyre, Carson McMillan & Jarod Palmer to two-way, one-year contracts.

2014:  The Minnesota Wild announced an affiliation agreement with the Alaska Aces of the premier AA - East Coast Hockey League (ECHL).  With the agreement the Aces have dual affiliation with the NHL's Minnesota Wild and St. Louis Blues.

2014:  Two individuals were charged in the overdose death of former Minnesota Wild enforcer - Derek Boogaard, three years after his fatal overdose in his brother's downtown Minneapolis home.
