1949:  Boston Bruins sold goaltender Frank Brimsek to Chicago.  Brimsek went on to lead the league by playing in all 70 games during during the 1949-50 season, his final year in the NHL.

1952:  Former NHL defenseman Dwight Bialowas born in Regina, Sask.  Bialowas played in the NHL 1973-74 through 1976-77 with Atlanta and the Minnesota North Stars.

1980:  NHL Hockey Hall of Fame inducted its newest members: Gump Worsley, Harry Lumley, Lynn Patrick and Jack Butterfield (American Hockey League Pres.)

1986:  NY Rangers traded Brian MacLellan to the Minnesota North Stars, in exchage for a 1987 4th round draft choice.

1987:  New York Rangers traded Pat Price to the Minnesota North Stars in exchange for Willi Plett. Plett never played for the Rangers, but was picked up by Boston in the 1987 Waiver Draft, in October.

1992:  NHL right wing Nino Niederreiter born in Chur, Switzerland.  Niederreiter has played in the NHL since 2010-11 with New York Islanders and Minnesota Wild.

2015:  South St. Paul City Council officially approved to rename historic Wakota Arena to Doug Woog Arena (home of the South St. Paul Packers high school hockey program).

2022:  USA Hockey & the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in Eveleth, MN announced it's newest class of H.O.F. inductees including: Jocelyn Lamoureux-Davidson, Monique Lamoureux-Morando, Ryan Miller, Steve Cash & Rochester, MN native - Jim Johannson inducted posthumously.
