1940:  Former NHL goalie Garry Bauman born in Calgary, Alberta.  Bauman played in the NHL 1966-67 through 1968-69 with Montreal and the Minnesota North Stars.

1994:  The newly formed Minnesota Moose of the IHL enveils its logo, which featured a lovable yet fierce-looking Moose designed by Richard Valentine of Valentine Designs - Edina, MN.  The team's primary colors were dark purple, forest green and black.  The teams Moose Gear and logo wear sold at a record pace, so hot that it led all minor-league hockey sales in total merchandise revenue.

1998:  Calgary Flames claimed veteran defenseman Phil Housley off waivers from the Washington Capitals.

1998:  Coyotes' Jim Johnson announced his retirement after 13 NHL seasons with Pittsburgh, Minnesota North Stars, Dallas Stars, Washington and Phoenix.  Upon retirement from NHL play Jim accepted a position as the Phoenix Coyotes' radio color analyst.

1999:  Florida Panthers signed free agent Lance Pitlick, who had been with the Ottawa Senators.

2015:  Minnesota Wild AHL affiliate - Iowa Wild announced an official ECHL affiliation with the  Quad City Mallards.
