1945:  Former NHL center Danny O'Shea born in Toronto, Ontario.  O'Shea played in the NHL 1968-69 through 1972-73 with the Minnesota North Stars, Chicago and St. Louis.

1953:  Former NHL right winger Warren Miller born in St. Paul, Minnesota. Miller played in the NHL 1979-80 through 1982-83 with the New York Rangers and Hartford Whalers.

1969:  Former NHL defenseman Pat MacLeod born in Melfort, Sask.  MacLeod played in the NHL 1990-91 through 1995-96 with San Jose, the Minnesota North Stars and Dallas.

1977:  Minnesota North Stars signed Kent-Erik Andersson as a free agent.

1978:  Minnesota North Stars/Cleveland Barons dispersal draft took place.

1978:  In the NHL Amateur draft held in Montreal, the Minnesota North Stars used the #1 pick overall to acquire Bobby Smith.

1978:  Minnesota North Stars traded Bob Stewart to St. Louis in exchange for Blues’ 2nd round pick in 1981 Entry Draft.

1985:  Calgary traded Kent Nilsson and a 3rd round choice in the 1986 Entry Draft to the Minnesota North Stars for North Stars' 2nd round choice in 1985 Entry Draft (Joe Nieuwendyk) and 2nd round choice in 1987 Entry Draft (Stephane Matteau).

1987:  Hockey Hall of Fame named its newest members: Bobby Clarke, Jacques Laperriere, Ed Giacomin and builders John Ziegler (NHL President) and Matt Pavelich (supervisor of officials).

1992:  Paul Holmgren was hired as the new head coach of the Hartford Whalers, replacing Jim Roberts.

2000:  Minnesota Wild and Xcel Energy announced long-term naming rights partnership; New St. Paul Arena to be named Xcel Energy Center.

2009:  Derian Hatcher officially announced his NHL retirement after 16 seasons with the Minnesota North Stars, Dallas, Detroit and Philadelphia, and was named Player Development Coach of the Flyers.
