T.R.F. GRABS TITLE REIGN
The Eveleth Era came to an end, at least in terms of championship game appearances. The Golden Bears made their seventh state title game appearance in 10 years, a place it would not see again until 1993. Thief River Falls won the crown with a 4-1 victory over Eveleth in the title game. The Prowlers scored two goals, six seconds apart in the second period, to build a 4-0 lead. Lyle Guttu and Marv Jorde were the quick goal-scorers. They had two goals each for the game.
