THE LEAGUE TAKES OVER

The League took over the administrative duties of the second state tournament.  Five teams returned with defending champion, Eveleth, head lining the field.  Roseau kept the championship in northern Minnesota with a 6-0 victory over Rochester in the title game.  In the quarterfinals, Roseau needed a 2-1 overtime win over White Bear Lake to advance.

SLAP SHOTS

  • St. Cloud Tech moved from Region 5 to Region 6 as Minneapolis City Conference schools joined the action.
  • Many schools did not play anything close to a full schedule. St. Cloud Tech entered the tournament with a 1-0-1 record.
  • Roseau's Ruben Bjorkman was the first player to record a hat trick in a championship game.
  • This tournament would be the last time a southern Minnesota team would make the state championship game until 1977.
  • Tournament Attendance: 11,035
