2010 Ken Pauly

Ken Pauly joined the MHCA board in 2006 as the Section 6 representative.  He served two years as the section rep before being appointed to the Executive Board as the MHCA’s Director of Promotions.  After serving 2 years in this position, he was voted to serve as the organization’s Vice President; he later served 3 years as the MHCA’s President.  After ten years, Pauly ended his formal position on the board.

He received the 2010 Bruce Johnson Award for expanding the organization’s presence on the web, radio, as well in print.  In addition, Pauly was the force behind the Nothing Compares campaign which celebrated high school hockey and its rich history, he chaired the committee to formalize the MHCA’s Mission Statement, and worked closely with Upper Midwest Elite League.  In his two years on the board as Past President, he worked with Kyle Oen of Vintage Minnesota Hockey to establish the online home for the Minnesota High Hockey Coaches Hall of Fame.

Coach Pauly has logged 30 years behind a varsity high school bench; 27 of those at Benilde-St. Margaret’s School and 3 years at Minnetonka High School.  Coach Pauly has over 500 career victories and he was voted as John Mariucci Coach of the Year by his coaching peers in 2012.  His teams have made 5 state tournament appearances, captured 16 conference titles, and won 3 state championships.

He played varsity football and hockey at Wayzata High School and went onto graduate from the University of Minnesota.  He teaches Social Studies at Benilde-St. Margaret’s School where he continues to coach the Red Knights.
