2006 Paul Moen

Paul Moen attended South St. Paul High School.  Coach Moen coached youth hockey starting in 1968, working with the youth of South St. Paul.  He had a youth by the name of Housley on his Bantam "A" team that he coached and this pretty well started there.  Doug Woog had him come and become an assistant with the junior varsity program in the 1979-80 seasons.  He later coached with Russ Welch, Whitey Willer, Bill Moore and Jeff Lagoo.

Coach Moen has been selected as the Section MSHSCA Assistant Coach of the year twice in 1994 and 2005, along with the State Assistant Coach of the Year in 1994, Minnesota Hockey Presidents Award in 201, and the Voyageurs "Friends of Hockey" award.  Coach Moen has been to ten State Tournaments.

Paul has been an active part of Minnesota Amateur Hockey Association (MAHA) for over 25+ years.  He was an original member of the Minnesota Hockey Officials Association (MHOA) that began in 1983.  Coach Moen began working with Ted Brill and the Select "15" program twenty years ago with duties as a coach, evaluator and committee member.  He served as a general manager for the Great "8" festival and organizer for 13+ years.  The program was called the Maroon & Gold, the Great "68", and now the Great "8".  Paul additionally served as Program Director of the festival, and as District "8" Supervisor of Officials, oversaw 350 officials and assigned over 2000 games a year.  Mr. Moen additionally was a volunteer for the WCHA Final Five for 5+ years as a All Tournament selection member.  Non hockey related - Paul was elected into the St. Paul Fast Pitch Hall of Fame in 1996.
