2008 Ty Eigner

Ty was a graduate of Rosemount high school, where he played varsity hockey for Frank Senta. After graduation he played two seasons in the USHL, and was part of the 1988 Junior A National Champion Rochester Mustangs.  Ty then played college hockey at Bowling Green University where he was a member of two NCAA Tournament teams and was a team Captain his senior season. His playing career finished after three seasons playing professionally in the East Coast Hockey League and Central Hockey League.  The highlight of his professional career was participating in the San Jose Sharks training camp in 1994.

Ty's coaching career started back at his alma mater Rosemount high school.  He was the head boy's hockey coach there or three seasons.  While at Rosemount, he also served as the head girl's hockey coach for one season.  He could be the only coach that has been the head coach of both a boy's and girl's Varsity team in the same season?  Following his time at Rosemount he became the head boy's hockey coach at Brainerd high school for over 10+ seasons. Additionally, Ty was the hockey director for the Brainerd Amateur Hockey Association.  In 2010, Ty rejoined his alma mater at Bowling Green University for coaching.

Some highlights of his coaching career include having had players go on and play in the NHL.  Seeing more than 30 players move on to Division I-Division III College hockey.  He has had the opportunity to work with many great coaches and players alike in the Minnesota ODP for girls program, the USA Hockey National Advanced 15 and 17 programs, the Minnesota 16 program as well as being involved in the Minnesota Hockey Coaching Certification Program, and last but not least - President of the Minnesota Hockey Coaches Association.

None of his accomplishments wouldn't have been possible without the support of his wonderful family - Wife Erika, Son Peter, and Daughters Ellie and Kate - that made many sacrifices to allow him to pursue his passion.  The passion for hockey was instilled in his Brothers Trent and Troy, and in Ty by Chuck Grillo in grade school that all left a lasting impression.
