1939:  Toronto traded Busher Jackson, Murray Armstrong, Doc Romnes, Jimmy Fowler and Buzz Boll to the New York Americans in exchange for Sweeney Schriner.

1957:  Former NHL defenseman John Baby born in Sudbury, Ont. Baby played in the NHL 1977-78 through 1978-79 with Cleveland and the Minnesota North Stars.

1960:  Former NHL left winger Brent Ashton born in Saskatoon, Sask. Ashton played in the NHL 1979-80 through 1992-93 with Vancouver Canucks, Colorado Rockies, New Jersey Devils, Minnesota North Stars, Quebec Nordiques, Detroit Red Wings, Winnipeg Jets, Boston Bruins and Calgary Flames.

1964:  Former NHL center Rick Boh born in Kamloops, B.C. Boh played in the NHL 1987-88 with the Minnesota North Stars.

1968:  The Amateur Hockey Association of the United States (AHAUS) endorses the concept of the US Hockey Hall of Fame Museum in Eveleth, MN.

1983:  Former NHL right winger Matt Foy born in Oakville, Ont. Foy played in the NHL 2005-06 through 2007-08 with the Minnesota Wild.

1990:  NHL defenseman Aaron Ness born in Bemidji, MN. Ness has played in the NHL since 2011-12 with New York Islanders.

2016:  Minnesota Wild signed goaltender Adam Vay to a two-year, entry-level contract.
