1949:  The 5th annual MSHSL State Boys High School Hockey Tournament is held at the St. Paul Auditorium from Feb. 24-26th.

1951:  Former NHL right winger Earl Anderson born in Roseau, Minnesota.  Anderson played in the NHL 1974-75 through 1976-77 with Detroit and Boston.

1955:  The 11th annual MSHSL State Boys High School Hockey Tournament is held at the St. Paul Auditorium from Feb. 24-26th.  Then NHL President Clarence Campbell attended the games, with Tournament founder Gene Aldrich the first day of the Tournament, following a neutral site game by Chicago Blackhawks the day prior at St. Paul Auditorium.

1966:  The 22nd annual MSHSL State Boys High School Hockey Tournament is held at the St. Paul Auditorium from Feb. 24-26th.

1980: USA defeats Finland 4-2 in 1980 Winter Olympic Games at Lake Placid, N.Y. to capture the countries second Gold Medal in Hockey. (First in 1960)

1982:  Chicago's Denis Savard and Rangers' rookie Mark Pavelich set a Rangers' record for fastest two goals by both teams, scoring four seconds apart in third period (at 19:23 and 19:27) in the Rangers 6-4 win over the visiting Chicago Black Hawks.

1982:  Dino Ciccarelli and Tim Young each scored a goal and added two assists to lead the North Stars to a 7-5 win against the Maple Leafs in Minnesota.

1982:  Winnipeg's Dave Christian scored two goals and added an assist, and rookie Dale Hawerchuk had a goal and two assists to lead the Jets to a 6-2 win over the visiting Philadelphia Flyers.

1987:  Kings' defenseman Dave Langevin had three assists, and rookie Jimmy Carson scored two goals and an assist as the Kings beat the Winnipeg Jets 8-3 at the Forum.

1995: The countries first ever Girls State High School Hockey Tournament started held at Aldrich Arena in Maplewood, MN.

2004:  Phoenix Coyotes fired head coach Bob Francis, and named assistant coach Rick Bowness as his replacement, with Tom Kurvers named as the new assistant.

2011:  Carolina Hurricanes acquired left wing Cory Stillman from the Florida Panthers in exchange for White Bear Lake native Ryan Carter and a fifth-round pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

2012:  Minnesota Wild acquired Kurtis Foster, Nick Palmieri, Stephane Veilleux, a 2nd round pick in 2012 and a conditional 3rd round pick in 2013 from New Jersey in exchange for Marek Zidlicky.

2015:  N.Y. Islanders Defenseman Nick Leddy (Eden Prairie, MN native) re-signed a 7 year $38.5 Million contract extension with the Islanders.

2015:  Minnesota Wild acquired left winger Sean Bergenheim from the Florida Panthers, along with a 7th round selection in 2016 in exchange for a 3rd round Draft Pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.
