1936: Former NHL center Charlie Burns born in Detroit, Mich. Burns played in the NHL 1958-59 through 1972-73 with Detroit, Boston, Oakland, Pittsburgh and Minnesota, and later coached the North Stars.
1946: The 2nd annual MSHSL State Boys High School Hockey Tournament is held at the St. Paul Auditorium from Feb. 14-16th.
1969: Chicago Black Hawks obtained Andre Boudrias and Mike McMahon from the Minnesota North Stars, in exchange for Tom Reid and Bill Orban.
1970: Former NHL defenseman Sean Hill born in Duluth, Minnesota. Hill played in the NHL 1992-93 through 2007-08 with Montreal, Anaheim, Ottawa, Carolina, St. Louis, Florida Panthers, New York Islanders and the Minnesota Wild.
1971: J.P. Parise scored two goals and an assist to lead the Minnesota North Stars to a 5-4 win over Pittsburgh at the Met Center.
1973: Buster Harvey scored two goals and added two assists in the Minnesota North Stars' 5-2 win over the St. Louis Blues, at the Met Center.
1979: Minnesota North Stars set a franchise record for fastest three goals when Brad Maxwell, and J.P. Parise (twice) combined to score in a span of :68 in an 8-1 win over the visiting Vancouver Canucks.
1980: Paul Holmgren scored two goals and added an assist to lead the Flyers to a 5-1 win against the visiting Winnipeg Jets.
1981: Mike Eaves scored a goal and added two assists to lead the North Stars to a 7-4 win over the Hartford Whalers in Minnesota.
1982: NHL right wing Marian Gaborik born in Trencin, Czechoslovakia. Gaborik has played in the NHL since 2000-01 with the Minnesota Wild, New York Rangers, Columbus BlueJackets and the L.A. Kings.
1983: NHL left wing Eric Nystrom born in Syosset, N.Y. Nystrom has played in the NHL since 2005-06 with Calgary, Minnesota, Dallas, and Nashville.
1986: Calgary's Joel Otto became the first rookie in Flames history to get 150 penalty minutes, when he picked up six PIM in a 3-3 tie against the visiting Buffalo Sabres.
1995: Buffalo obtained Alexei Zhitnik, Robb Stauber, Charlie Huddy and a conditional draft pick in trade from the Los Angeles Kings, in exchange for Phillippe Boucher, Denis Tsygurov and Grant Fuhr.
2001: Mike Modano scored 1 goal and added 2 assists to become the franchise leader (Dallas Stars) over Neal Broten with 869 points.
2007: St. Louis rookie David Backes scored his first two-goal game in the NHL to lead the Blues to a 4-2 win over the Blue Jackets at Columbus.
2007: Marian Gaborik became the first player to score 300 points as a member of the Minnesota Wild; he reached the milestone with a goal and an assist in a 3-2 overtime loss vs Vancouver.
2008: Mikko Koivu scored the winning shootout goal, and Stephane Veilleux scored twice to lead the Wild to a 5-4 win against the Canucks at Vancouver.
2010: Minnesota's Marek Zidlicky set a team record for defensemen with his 31st assist of the season, in a 6-2 win over the visiting Vancouver Canucks; he broke the mark of 30 assists that he had set one year earlier.
2015: Nashville Predators Forward (Moorhead, MN native) Matt Cullen had 1 goal and 1 assist in the Predators 3-1 Win over the New Jersey Devils to earn the #2 Star of the Night.
