1955: Former NHL defenseman Udo Kiessling born in Crimmitschau, Germany. Kiessling played in the NHL 1981-82 with the Minnesota North Stars.
1969: Former NHL left winger Reid Simpson born in Flin Flon, Man. Simpson played in the NHL 1991-92 through 2003-04 with the Philadelphia Flyers, the Minnesota North Stars, New Jersey, Chicago, Tampa Bay, St. Louis, the Montreal Canadiens and Nashville.
1973: Formal announcement made concerning the dedication, and initial enshrinement of Inaugural US Hockey Hall of Fame Museum members in Eveleth, MN to be held on June 21, 1973.
1974: Former NHL defenseman Sylvain Blouin born in Montreal, Que. Blouin played in the NHL 1996-97 through 2002-03 with the New York Rangers, the Montreal Canadiens and the Minnesota Wild.
1975: NHL center Todd White born in Kanata, Ont. White has played in the NHL since 1997-98 with Chicago, Philadelphia, Ottawa, the Minnesota Wild, Atlanta, and the New York Rangers.
1981: Butch Goring scored twice as the New York Islanders beat the Minnesota North Stars 5-1 in Game Five of the Stanley Cup Finals at Naussau Coliseum, to win the 1981 Cup 4 games to 1 over the North Stars, and marked the Islanders second straight NHL championship. Goring won the Conn Smythe Trophy as Playoff MVP.
1991: Pittsburgh set a Stanley Cup Finals' record with three goals in a two minute span during the first three minutes of the game, and went on to beat the North Stars 5-3 in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals, in Minnesota to even the series 2-2
2001: Wild named Houston Aeros of the IHL as their primary developmental affiliate. The affitilation marked the teams first time in the clubs eight year history that the Aeros had a working agreement with an NHL member club.
2010: Jonathan Toews had two assists to set a Chicago playoff record with a point in his 12th straight playoff game and Dustin Byfuglien scored at 12:24 of OT as the Blackhawks beat the visiting Sharks 3-2 to take a 3-0 lead in the Western Conference Finals.
2012: Minneapolis, MN native Zach Parise had two goals and an assist to lead the Devils to a 4-1 win over the visiting Rangers in game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
