1946: Hall of Famer Craig Patrick born in Detroit, Michigan. Patrick played in the NHL 1971-72 through 1978-79 with Oakland, St. Louis, Kansas City, the Minnesota North Stars and Washington, and later became general manager of the Rangers and the Penguins.
1966: Wren Blair was named the General Manager of the expansion Minnesota North Stars, a year and a half before their first NHL game. Blair later was also named their first NHL coach.
1971: Minnesota North Stars traded Joey Johnston and Walt McKechnie to the California Seals in exchange for Dennis Hextall.
1988: Calgary traded Igor Liba to the Minnesota North Stars for North Stars’ 5th round pick, Thomas Forslund, in 1988 Entry Draft.
