1940:  Former NHL coach Dave Chambers born in Leaside, Ont. Chambers worked in the league with the Minnesota North Stars, Dallas and Quebec starting in 1989-90.

1969:  Minnesota North Stars acquired Tommy Williams and Barry Gibbs from Boston in exchange for Minnesota's first round choice in the 1969 Amateur Draft (Don Tannahill) and a player to be named later.

1985:  Pittsburgh Penguins signed Fridley, MN native free agent - Chris Dahlquist.

1986:  NHL defenseman Nate Prosser born in Elk River, MN.  Prosser has played in the NHL since 2009-10 with the Minnesota Wild, and St. Louis Blues.

1986:  NHL goaltender Anton Khudobin born in Ust-Kamenogorsk, USSR. Khudobin has played in the NHL since 2009-10 with the Minnesota Wild, Boston and Carolina.

2003:  Dwayne Roloson made 30 saves and Lubomir Sekeras, Antti Laaksonen and Darby Hendrickson scored their first career playoff goals as the Wild won 5-1 over the visiting Vancouver Canucks, in Game 6 of the Western Conference Semi-Finals.

2013:  Kris Letang of the Pittsburgh Penguins, P.K. Subban of the Montreal Canadiens and Ryan Suter of the Minnesota Wild were named the three finalists for the 2012-13 James Norris Memorial Trophy.

2016:  Former WHA Minnesota Fighting Saints forward - Bruce Boudreau named as new Minnesota Wild Head Coach (5th Wild Head Coach in franchise history behind - Jacques Lemaire, Todd Richards, Mike Yeo and John Torchetti)
