1944:  Former NHL left winger Fred Stanfield born in Toronto, Ont. Stanfield played in the NHL 1964-65 through 1977-78 with Chicago, Boston, the Minnesota North Stars and Buffalo.

1973:  NHL player John Madden born in Barrie, Ont. Madden has played in the NHL since 1998-99 with New Jersey, Chicago, the Minnesota Wild and Florida Panthers.

1980:  Former Gophers hockey captain, professional hockey player, and Assistant Coach of the Minnesota Gophers - Grant Potulny born in Grand Forks, ND.  Grant played for the Binghamton Senators, Hershey Bears, Springfield Falcons, San Antonio Rampage and Norfolk Admirals from 2003-04 through 2008-09.

1987:  Former Richfield and Apple Valley H.S. Head Coach, and 1980 USA Olympic Strength and Conditioning Coach - Larry Hendrickson became the 1st ever Strength and Conditioning Coach for Minnesota North Stars. 

1990:  Minnesota North Stars Pierre Page resigns to become G.M. of the Quebec Nordiques.

1991:  Minnesota North Stars were defeated by the Edmonton Oilers in Game-2 of the Campbell Conference Playoff Finals 7-2 at Northlands Coliseum to even the series 1-1.

2000:  Minnesota Wild signed Minnesota prospect Steve Aronson as their first skater, and Columbus Blue Jackets announced their first NHL signing as Niagara University goaltender Greg Gardner signed with the team.

2012:  Six active/future members of the Minnesota Wild at the time including - Mikko Koivu, Mikael Granlund (Finland), Matt Hackett (Canada), Jonas Brodin, Johan Larsson (Sweden) and Dennis Endras (Germany) took place in the 2012 IIHF World Championships that ended on May 20, 2012.
