1947:  Former NHL left winger Grant Erickson born in Pierceland, Sask. Erickson played in the NHL 1968-69 through 1969-70 with Boston and the Minnesota North Stars.

1981:  Minnesota North Stars' Gordie Roberts and Al MacAdam set a franchise playoff record by scoring two shorthanded goals in a span of :24 and Tim Young had a goal and two assists in a 4-1 win at Calgary, in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Semi-Finals.

1984:  Minnesota and Edmonton combined to set a Stanley Cup playoff record for most power play goals in one game, with seven. North Stars had four and Oilers had three as Edmonton won 8-5, in Game 3 of the Campbell Conference Finals.

1985:  Dennis Maruk scored the winning goal at 1:14 of overtime to lead the Minnesota North Stars to a 5-4 win at Chicago, in Game 5 of the Norris Division Finals.

1988:  New Jersey's Jim Korn set a team playoff record for most penalty minutes in a game when he picked up 37 (a minor, a major, two misconducts and a game misconduct) in a 7-2 loss at Washington, in Game 6 of the Patrick Division Finals.

1991:  Minnesota's Bobby Smith scored twice as the North Stars won 3-2 at Met Center over the visiting St. Louis Blues (4 games to 2), in Game 6 of the Norris Division Finals.  Minnesota advanced to the Conference Finals vs. Edmonton.

1992:  Video replay determined the outcome of a Stanley Cup playoff game for the first time in NHL history when the Detroit Red Wings defeated the Minnesota North Stars 1-0 in Game 6 of the Norris Division Semifinals at Bloomington, MN Met Center.  At 16:13 into OT, a shot by Detroit's Sergei Federov hit a hard surface around the net and caromed back into play.  Referee Rob Shick called for a video review and ruled the puck hit the back of the net (Detroit went on to win Game 7 by score of 5-2 in Detroit April 30th).

1995:  New Jersey's Neal Broten played in his 1,000th career regular season game as the Devils won 3-1 over the visiting Panthers. Broten became the fourth U.S. born player (after Gordie Roberts, Mike Ramsey, and Joe Mullen) to play in 1,000 NHL games.

2007:  New Jersey's Jamie Langenbrunner scored on a breakaway 1:55 into the 2nd overtime, and Martin Brodeur made 43 saves to give the Devils a 3-2 win over the Ottawa Senators, in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals.

2014:  Minnesota's Zach Parise set a team playoff record by scoring :49 into the game and set another team record with four points (2 goals and 2 assists) as the Wild beat the visiting Colorado Avalanche 5-2 in Game 6 of their First Round series.
