1956:  Former NHL left winger Anders Hakansson born in Munfors, Sweden. Hakansson played in the NHL 1981-82 through 1985-86 with the Minnesota North Stars, Pittsburgh and Los Angeles.

1968:  In game 4 of the conference semi-finals vs. St. Louis Blues, the North Stars were the 'home team' on the road in their home dark uniforms, as Met Center was not available due to previously scheduled Ice Follies in Bloomington.  North Stars entered the 3rd period with a comfortable 3-0 lead, before Jimmy Roberts of St. Louis Blues scored twice in the 3rd including the tying goal with 20 seconds left, to be defeated early in OT 4-3 on a Gary Sabourin goal to tie the series 2-2.

1980:  Al MacAdam scored the winner at 18:34 of the 3rd period (latest game 7 regulation winner in playoff history) to lead the North Stars to a 3-2 win at Montreal in Game 7 of the Quarter-Finals. The loss ended Montreal's hopes for five straight Stanley Cups.

1984:  Former NHL center Pierre-Marc Bouchard born in Sherbrooke, Que. Bouchard played in the NHL starting in 2002-03 with Minnesota and New York Islanders.

1984:  NHL defenseman Mark Stuart born in Rochester, MN. Stuart has played in the NHL since 2005-06 with Boston, Atlanta, and Winnipeg.

2003:  Despite being outshot 31-18 by the Canucks, Dwayne Roloson made 29 saves and Sergei Zholtok and Wes Walz scored just over a minute apart early in the third period as the Wild won 3-2 at Vancouver, in Game 2 of the Western Conference Semi-Finals.

2009:  Columbus rookie Steve Mason was named as one of the finalists for the NHL's Vezina Trophy, along with Boston's Tim Thomas and Minnesota's Niklas Backstrom.

2013:  Devin Setoguchi broke a second-period tie and Niklas Backstrom stopped 29 shots, helping the Wild grab the last playoff spot in the Western Conference with a 3-1 win at Colorado.
