1940:  Former NHL center Tom Williams born in Duluth, Minnesota. Williams played in the NHL 1961-62 through 1975-76 with Boston, the Minnesota North Stars, Oakland and Washington.

1943:  Former NHL center Dennis Hextall born in Winnipeg, Man. Hextall played in the NHL 1968-69 through 1979-80 with the New York Rangers, Los Angeles, Oakland, the Minnesota North Stars, Detroit and Washington.

1977:  Gary Sargent set a Kings' record for most points by a Kings defenseman in a playoff game, with a goal and two assists in a 7-4 win over Boston, in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Quarter-Finals.

1980:  Pete Peeters became the first goalie in Flyers history to start his playoff career 4-0 & Paul Holmgren and Bill Barber set a team playoff record by scoring :14 apart during the 2nd period of a 4-1 win over the Rangers, in Game 2 of the Quarter-Finals.

1980:  Steve Payne scored twice and had an assist to lead the Minnesota North Stars to a 4-1 win against the Canadiens, in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Quarter-Final series at Montreal.

1981:  Steve Christoff and rookie Dino Ciccarelli each scored two goals to lead the Minnesota North Stars to a 5-2 win over the Sabres in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Quarter-Finals, at Buffalo.

1982:  NHL right wing Chuck Kobasew born in Osoyoos, B.C. Kobasew has played in the NHL since 2002-03 with Calgary, Boston, Minnesota Wild, Colorado and Pittsburgh.

1983:  Buffalo's Mike Ramsey became the second defenseman in NHL history to score goals in four straight playoff games & rookie Dave Andreychuk scored in his playoff debut when the Sabres beat the visiting Bruins 4-3, in Game 3 of the Adams Division Finals.

1983:  Brad Maxwell picked up three assists to lead the North Stars to a 5-1 win over the Black Hawks in Game 3 of the Norris Division Finals, in Minnesota.

2007:  The Wild scored three goals in the third period, including a goal and an assist by Brian Rolston, & rookie Niklas Backstrom made 28 saves to help Minnesota beat visiting Anaheim 4-1, in Game 4 of the Western Conference Quarter-Finals.

2008:  Minnesota’s Brian Rolston extended his assist streak to 3 straight games (tying a team playoff record) and added a goal as well as 8 shots in a 3-2 loss to the visiting Colorado Avalanche, in Game 5 of the Western Conference Quarter-Finals.

2014:   Minnesota Wild forwards Kyle Brodziak, Charlie Coyle and Erik Haula recorded their first career postseason goals in a 5-4 overtime loss at Colorado in Game 1 of the First Round.
