1958:  Former NHL center Keith Acton born in Newmarket, Ont. Acton played in the NHL 1979-80 thru 1993-94 with Montreal, Minnesota North Stars, Edmonton, Philadelphia, Washington, and the NY Islanders and later coached with the Flyers, Rangers and Maple Leafs.

1962:  Former NHL defenseman Wally Schreiber born in Edmonton, Alta. Schreiber played in the NHL 1987-88 through 1988-89 with the Minnesota North Stars.

1966:  Former NHL center Todd Elik born in Brampton, Ont. Elik played in the NHL 1989-90 through 1996-97 with Los Angeles, the Minnesota North Stars, Edmonton, San Jose, St. Louis and Boston.

1971:  Bobby Rousseau scored a goal and added two assists to lead Minnesota to a 5-2 playoff win over St. Louis, in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Quarter-Finals. With the win, the North Stars advanced to the Semi-Finals against Montreal.

1974:  Former NHL right winger Sergei Krivokrasov born in Angarsk, USSR. Krivokrasov played in the NHL 1992-93 through 2001-02 with Chicago, Nashville, Calgary, the Minnesota Wild and Anaheim.

1989:  Calgary's Joel Otto scored the winning goal at 19:21 of overtime, and Hakan Loob picked up three assists as the Flames defeated Vancouver 4-3 in Game 7 of the Smythe Division Semi-Finals.

1993:  The Minnesota North Stars played their last game in team history on the road at Joe Louis Arena in a 5-3 loss to the Detroit Red Wings to finish the season, and the teams history.  The team relocated to Dallas, and was renamed the Dallas Stars.

1995:  Robert Reichel scored a goal and added two assists and Joel Otto picked up 34 penalty minutes to lead Calgary to a 4-2 win, at Edmonton.

2006:  Minnesota set a team record for fastest two goals on the road when Mattias Weinhandl and Wes Walz scored in a span of :11 during the third period of a 4-3 overtime loss at Dallas.

2008:  Minnesota set a team playoff record with 101 penalty minutes and Mikko Koivu extended his goal scoring streak to four straight games (tying a team playoff record) in a 5-1 loss at Colorado, in Game 4 of the Western Conference Quarter-Finals.

2015:  Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton, proclaimed this day as "Gopher Women's Hockey National Champions Day", following the schools' 6th National Championship captured in the 2015 Women's Frozen Four at Ridder Arena on March 22nd, 2015.  The entire team, coaches and training staff were invited to the Governor's Mansion to celebrate.

2015:  N.Y. Islanders Forward, and Warroad, MN native - Brock Nelson scored 2 goals in his NHL playoff debut to earn the #2 Star of the Night in the Islanders 4-1 win in Game-1 of the Eastern Confernce playoff series over the Washington Capitals.
