1954: Former NHL defenseman Dave Hanson born in Cumberland, Wisconsin. Hanson played in the NHL 1978-79 through 1979-80 with Detroit and the Minnesota North Stars.
1970: Goaltender Cesare Maniago recorded the first playoff shutout in Minnesota North Stars history, a 4-0 win over the visiting St. Louis Blues, in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Quarter-Finals.
1979: Tom Gorence and Reggie Leach each scored two goals to lead the Flyers to a 6-4 playoff win against the Canucks, at Vancouver in Game 2 of the Preliminary Round.
1984: Dino Ciccarelli scored a goal and added an assist as the North Stars won 2-1 over the Blues in Game 1 of the Norris Division Finals, in Minnesota.
1988: Aaron Broten scored a goal and added two assists to lead the Devils to a 4-2 win over the Islanders, at Long Island in Game 5 of the Patrick Division Semi-Finals.
1991: Minnesota's Jon Casey recorded his first career playoff shutout, and Brian Bellows tied a team record with four assists and the North Stars set a team record with five power play goals in a 6-0 win at Chicago, in Game 5 of the Norris Division Semi-Finals.
2003: Trent Klatt and Ed Jovanovski scored power-play goals to lead the Canucks to a 2-1 win over the visiting St. Louis Blues, in Game 2 of the Western Conference Quarter-Finals.
2007: New Jersey's Zach Parise scored two goals, including the game-winner, and Scott Gomez had three assists in a 5-3 win against the visiting Tampa Bay Lightning, in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Quarter-Finals.
2011: Minnesota Wild signed free agent Chay Genoway, following his career at the Univeristy of North Dakota.
