1949:  Former NHL center Terry Caffery born in Toronto, Ont. Caffery played in the NHL 1969-70 through 1970-71 with Chicago and the Minnesota North Stars.

1965:  Former NHL defenseman Brad Berry born in Bashaw, Alta. Berry played in the NHL 1985-86 through 1993-94 with Winnipeg, the Minnesota North Stars and Dallas. In 2010-11 he became assistant coch with Columbus.

1971:  Fund raising drives initiated in local Hibbing and Virginia for US Hockey Hall of Fame Museum to be built in Eveleth, MN.

1975:  Minnesota North Stars fired coach Charlie Burns

1979:  Mel Bridgman and Paul Holmgren each had two goals and an assist to lead the Flyers to a 7-3 win against the New York Rangers, at the Spectrum.

1981:  University of Minnesota Center, and Roseau, MN native - Neal Broten was named the winner of the 1st ever Hobey Baker Award on March 23, 1981.  Neal was presented as Inaugural award on this date at banquet dinner.  The award is given to the most outstanding player in College Hockey by the Decathlon Athletic Club in Bloomington MN.

1984:  Minnesota North Stars signed goaltender Jon Casey as a free agent, following his college career at North Dakota.

1987:  Minnesota North Stars' Dino Ciccarelli got an assist to tie Bill Goldsworthy with 506 career points for a share of the club's all time scoring title. In 470 games, Ciccarelli compiled a 259 goals, 247 assists, 506 points. It came in a 4-4 tie at Chicago.

1987:  Paul Boutilier had three assists in the final period to lead the Minnesota North Stars to a 4-4 tie at Chicago.

1989:  Phil Housley scored a goal for his 70th point of the season -- most ever by a Sabres' defenseman -- as the Sabres beat the Islanders 4-3 at Long Island.

1990:  Minnesota's Basil McRae picked up 32 penalty minutes and scored a goal and Mark Tinordi added 32 PIM for the North Stars in a 4-1 loss at Chicago.

1993:  Joel Otto scored twice and picked up an assist as Calgary beat Minnesota 5-3, to extend their home undefeated streak against the North Stars to 11 games (9-0-2).

1995:  12,772 fans - the largest crowd of the Minnesota Moose season, watched the Moose play in their final home game of the inaugural season against Las Vegas.

2006:  Carolina's Matt Cullen scored his 100th career NHL goal and added an assist as the Hurricanes lost 5-2 at Atlanta.

2008:  New Jersey's Patrik Elias tied Scott Niedermayer's team record with his 364th career assist and scored his 20th goal of the year for the 7th time in 8 seasons in a 2-1 win over the Islanders in New York. Zach Parise scored at :29 of OT for the win.

2008:  Edmonton's Tom Gilbert set a team record for most games played by a rookie defenseman when he appeared in his 81st game of the year, a 3-2 loss to the visiting Calgary Flames; he broke the mark of 80 games played by Randy Gregg in 1982-83.

2010:  Defenseman Keith Ballard scored in the first period and Scott Clemmensen made 36 saves for his fifth career shutout as the Panthers beat the Bruins 1-0 in Boston.

2013:  Minnesota's Dany Heatley scored his 10th goal of the year to give him 10 (or more) goals in each of his 11 NHL seasons; he reached the milestone in a 4-1 loss to the visiting St. Louis Blues.

2015:  San Jose Sharks Goaltender, and South St. Paul, MN native - Alex Stalock made 19 saves to earn the #1 Star of the Night in the Sharks' 5-1 win over Colorado Avalanche.

2015:  Minnesota Wild Goaltender - Devan Dubnyk named 3rd Star of the Month of March, 2015.  Dubnyk led the NHL with 11 wins, and had a 1.78 GAA, and .942 SV %.  (Was 1st Star of the Month in February, 2015 as well)
