1953:  Former NHL left winger Steve Alley born in Anoka, MN.  Alley played in the NHL 1979-80 through 1980-81 with Hartford.

1954:  Former NHL left winger Robbie Laird born in Regina, Sask.  Laird played in the NHL 1979-80 with the Minnesota North Stars and later worked as an assistant coach with Washington.

1975:  Minnesota rookie Tim Young scored a goal and added an assist in the North Stars' 2-1 win over the Kings at the Met Center.

1976:  Former NHL defenseman Filip Kuba born in Ostrava, Czech. Kuba has played in the NHL 1998-99 through 2012-13 with Florida Panthers, Minnesota Wild, Tampa Bay Lightning and Ottawa Senators.

1980:  Minnesota North Stars traded Glen Sharpley to Chicago in exchange for Ken Solheim and Chicago's second round choice (Tom Hirsch) in 1981 Entry Draft.

1981:  Pittsburgh Penguins acquired center Rick MacLeish from Hartford in a trade for defenseman Russ Anderson and an eighth round draft choice in 1983.

1984:  Bryan Erickson scored twice as the Capitals won 3-2 over the visiting Hartford Whalers.

1990:  Ray Bourque had three assists as the Bruins tied 4-4, at Minnesota.  Ulf Dahlen scored two goals and an assist for the North Stars.

1992:  Phil Housley picked up three assists to lead the Jets to a 5-4 win over the visiting Boston Bruins.

1999:  Kirk Muller recorded his first assist as a member of the Stars on Jamie Langenbrunner's game-winning overtime goal when Dallas won 4-3 against the visiting New York Rangers.

2000:  Mariusz Czerkawski and Mark Parrish each scored two goals and added an assist in the Islanders 5-2 win against the visiting Atlanta Thrashers.

2000:  Defenseman Andy Sutton scored his first goal as a member of the Wild when Minnesota tied 2-2 against the visiting Phoenix Coyotes.

2001:  Florida's Bret Hedican set a team record for defensemen with four points (two goals and two assists) in a 4-2 win over the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs.

2003:  Despite being outshot 46-19 by the Flames, Dwayne Roloson made 44 saves, and Richard Park scored on a penalty shot in the 3rd period as the Wild tied 2-2 at Calgary.  The tie gave them a 4-0-4 mark in the past 8 games, tying a franchise record.

2003:  Mark Parrish scored twice to lead the Islanders to a 3-1 win against the visiting New Jersey Devils.

2005:  Ladislav Nagy scored a goal and three assists, and rookie defenseman Keith Ballard scored twice, including a shorthanded goal at 3:52 of overtime to give the Coyotes a 6-5 win over the visiting Los Angeles Kings.

2006:  Minnesota's Brian Rolston scored twice and had an assist, Kurtis Foster tied a team record for defensemen with three assists and Wes Walz scored at 1:29 of overtime to lead the Wild to a 4-3 win over the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets.

2007:  Minnesota tied a team record with three goals by defensemen in a 5-4 overtime win over the visiting Edmonton Oilers.  The Wild also came back from 3 goals down, their biggest comeback win ever for a home game.

2011:  Niklas Backstrom improved to 16-0-0 lifetime at home against Edmonton, when the Wild beat the visiting Oilers 4-3.

2011:  Tampa Bay rookie J.T. Wyman (a native of Edina, MN) scored the first two points of his NHL career with a goal and an assist in a 4-3 win over the visiting Canadiens.  Wyman had been an original draft pick of Montreal (#100 overall in 2004) before signing as a free agent with the Lightning.

2013:  Minnesota captain Mikko Koivu had two assists to go over the 300 career assist mark; he reached the milestone in a 5-4 overtime loss to the visiting NY Islanders.

2013:  Robbinsdale, MN native Blake Wheeler assisted on Winnipeg's opening goal in the third period and then scored with 1.7 seconds left in overtime to give the Jets a 2-1 victory at Colorado.  Wheeler's goal (at 4:58 of OT) was the latest overtime winner in franchise history.

2013:  Islanders trailed 3-0 in the second period but came back, led by St. Paul, MN native Kyle Okposo's two goals and an assist to beat the Wild 5-4 at Minnesota.

2014:  N.Y. Islanders Forward - Edina, MN native Anders Lee had 1 goal and 1 assist to earn the #2 Star of the Night in the Islanders 4-3 OT win over Washington Capitals.

2016:  Minnesota Wild set a franchise record for the fastest 3 goals coming in 1:20 (2nd - Chris Stewart, 3rd - Jared Spurgeon and 4th - Jordan Schroeder goals) in the 6-4 win vs. visiting NY Islanders. Previous record was 1:41 back in 2004.  Warroad, MN native Brock Nelson had 2 goals in Islander loss and was named #2 Star of the Night.

2016:  Minnesota Wild extended franchise best records for both; 12 straight wins, earning points in 13 straight games in one calendar month & 8 straight home wins in 6-4 win over Islanders at Xcel Energy Center. Wild lead the NHL with a season-period goal differential of +22 (+5 higher than any other NHL team).
