1938:  Boston's rookie goalie Frankie Brimsek recorded the shutout in a 2-0 Bruins' win over the Black Hawks, at Boston Garden.  It was Brimsek's second straight shutout (and second career victory), and came in his third career NHL game.

1969:  Claude Larose added three assists to lead the Minnesota North Stars to a 4-3 win over the Canadiens at Montreal.

1975:  Minnesota goaltender Cesare Maniago recorded his 27th career shutout to lead the North Stars to a 4-0 win over the Kansas City Scouts at the Met Center.  Rookie Tim Young scored a goal and added two assists in the game.

1978:  Los Angeles traded Steve Short to Detroit, in exchange for the rights to Virginia, MN native - Steve Carlson.  Steve would go onto scoring 9 goals, with 21 points in 59 games for the Kings.

1978:  Minnesota goaltender Gilles Meloche recorded his 100th career victory, with a 4-0 North Stars win over the Kings at the Met Center. Rookie Bobby Smith scored two goals and an assist and Brad Maxwell had three assists.

1986:  Bryan Erickson scored two goals and added two assists to lead the Kings to a 7-2 win against the visiting Chicago Blackhawks.

1986:  NHL defenseman Matt Niskanen born in Virginia, MN.  Niskanen has played in the NHL since 2007-08 with Dallas, Pittsburgh and Washington.

1988:  Edmonton traded Reed Larson to the New York Islanders in exchange for future considerations.

2000:  At approximately 6:40 a.m. two dining room workers at Bloomington Decathlon Club - original home of Hobey Baker award - noticed flames coming from a small room on 2nd floor and pulled the fire alarm.  Damaged was initially assessed at $1.2 million closing the club indefinitely.  No one was injured in the fire, and several hockey items were removed from 1st floor quickly in the fire while Bloomington F.D. put out flames over 90 minutes.

2003:  Dwayne Roloson was named the #1 star of the game with 33 saves, and Christoph Brandner's first period goal held up as the Wild skated to a 1-1 tie in Vancouver.

2005:  Mike York scored twice and added three assists and Mark Parrish scored twice to give him 150 NHL goals (and 100 with the Islanders) in a 6-3 win over the Blues at St. Louis.

2008:  Nashville rookie Pekka Rinne tied a team record for best start for a Predators' goalie, by improving to 6-0-0, with a 1-0 win over the visiting Minnesota Wild.  It was also his second shutout of the month.  Josh Harding had 42 saves for the Wild.

2008:  New Jersey Devils became just the second team in NHL history to win three overtime games in one road trip when Zach Parise scored just 31 seconds into OT for a 2-1 victory in Montreal.

2011:  Rookie goalie Matt Hackett made 34 saves in his NHL debut as the Wild beat the Sharks 2-1 in San Jose.

2014:  Benilde-St. Margeret's high school hockey team retired Jack Jablosnki's jersey #13.  At the time of the retirement, Jack was a volunteer assistant coach of the Red-Knights.  Coach Ken Pauly announced "Jersey #13 would not be worn again in Red Knights hockey history".
