1967:  The expansion Minnesota North Stars improved to 4-1-0 in their first NHL preseason, after a 4-3 win over the Oakland Seals, in a game played at Kingston, Ontario.

2000:  The Minnesota Wild hosted a VIP private event open house for members of the media, and season ticket holders to tour the new Xcel Energy Center - home of the Minnesota Wild.  A live in-arena broadcast of the Wild vs. Canucks pre-season game was played on the center ice scoreboard held from 3:00-8:00.

2001:  Minnesota Wild signed Kyle Wanvig.

2011:  Mike Modano announced his retirement from the NHL, after 21 seasons with the Minnesota North Stars, the Dallas Stars and Detroit.

2014:  Eveleth, MN native Al Suomi passed away at the age of 100.  Al was the NHL's "oldest living alumnus", a title he held since March of 2010 following the death of Louis Holmes.

2014:  Minnesota Wild signed defensemen Alex Gudbranson and Hunter Warner to three-year, entry-level contracts; both blue liners had attended Minnesota Wild Development Camp two months earlier as invitees.

2015:  Colorado Avalanche re-signed Bloomington, MN native Erik Johnson, and former University of Minnesota Gopher hockey player to a seven-year $42 Million extension through the 2022-2023 season.
