Vintage Minnesota Hockey - History

1952:  Former NHL defenseman Bill Nyrop born in Washington, D.C.  Nyrop played in the NHL 1975-76 through 1981-82 with Montreal and the Minnesota North Stars.

1968:  Former NHL defenseman Mark Osiecki born in St. Paul, MN.  Osiecki played in the NHL 1991-92 through 1992-93 with Calgary, Ottawa, Winnipeg Jets and the Minnesota North Stars.

1993:  The "New" Gardens Arena in Warroad, MN was dedicated on this day with several dignitaries present including Gordie Howe, John Mayasich, Christian Brothers, and several others.

1997:  Pittsburgh Penguins named Mike Eaves, Don Jackson and Troy Ward as assistant coaches.

1998:  San Jose Sharks signed free agent Jon Rohloff.

2008:  San Jose Sharks named Trent Yawney, Todd Richards and Jay Woodcroft as Assistant Coaches under new Head Coach Todd McLellan.

2016:  Minnesota Wild re-signed forward Jordan Schroeder to a one-year, two-way contract.
