1935: William Tobin - Chicago Blackhawks secretary was on a fishing trip in Hibbing, Minnesota met with Mayor Arthur Timmerman and James Early, President of the Chamber of Commerce over the proposal for Blackhawks to house NHL training camp in Hibbing Memorial Arena.  Tobin later returned to Chicago and reported to owner Major McLaughlin on how impressed he was with the Hibbing facility.  (Blackhawks camp was held in Hibbing six times from late 1930's to 1943)

1949:  Former NHL center Bobby Whitlock born in Charlottetown, P.E.I.  Whitlock played in the NHL 1969-70 with the Minnesota North Stars.

1987:  NHL center Will Acton born in Edina, MN.  Acton has played in the NHL since 2013-14 with Edmonton.

1991:  NHL defenseman Nate Schmidt born in St. Cloud, MN.  Schmidt has played in the NHL since 2013-14 with Washington.

2001:  Minnesota Wild signed free agent center Mark Beaufait, who had spent the previous six seasons with the Orlando Solar Bears of the IHL.

2002:  Minnesota Wild signed free agent Jean-Guy Trudel.

2008:  Minnesota Wild signed free agent Brandon Rogers.

2015:  Minneapolis, MN native - Tyler Pitlick signed a one-year contract with the Edmonton Oilers.
