1975:  Former NHL defenseman Mike Crowley born in Bloomington, MN.  Crowley played in the NHL 1997-98 through 2001-02 with Anaheim.

1990:  NHL defenseman Jake Gardiner was born in Minnetonka, MN.  Jake has played in the NHL since the 2011-2012 season with Toronto.

1994:  Calgary Flames traded Al MacInnis (their all-time leading scorer) to St. Louis in exchange for Phil Housley.

1994:  Ottawa signed Chris Dahlquist and Mike Bales as free agents.

2008:  Vancouver Canucks signed free agent Mark Cullen.

2012:  Minnesota Wild free agent Centerman - Jake Dowell signed to a two-year contract.

2012:  The Minnesota Wild agreed to terms with unrestricted free agents in Minneapolis, MN native F Zach Parise and D Ryan Suter.  Both players agreed to 13-year contracts worth $98 Million.  The signing of both players marks one of the NHL's most lucrative off-season free agent signings ever.  Parise now dons his collegiate Sioux jersey #11 with the Wild, the same number that his father J. P. wore during his tenure with the Minnesota North Stars.
