1913:  Former NHL center Cully Dahlstrom born in Minneapolis, MN.  Dahlstrom played in the NHL 1937-38 through 1944-45 with Chicago.

1980:  NHL player Antti Miettinen born in Hameenlinna, Finland. Miettinen has played in the NHL since 2003-04 with Dallas, Minnesota, and Winnipeg.

1990:  NHL center Anders Lee born in Edina, MN.  Lee has played in the NHL since 2012-13 with New York Islanders.

2000:  Chicago Blackhawks named Denis Savard and Don Jackson as their newest assistant coaches.

2001:  The crew at Christian Bros. Hockey Sticks in Warroad, MN built a 107 ft. stick of white and yellow aspen with a finished weight of 7,000lbs. back in 1995.  On this date the 'original' stick placed was removed from it's supports and lowered to the ground over growing concerns of it's structural integrity.  The stick was then replaced on June 18th, 2002 with pieces of the original 1995 placed stick cut up and sold for $5.00 (which are now a rare find in Eveleth).

2002:  Minnesota Wild signed free agent Bill Muckalt, who had been with the Ottawa Senators.

2003:  Buffalo Sabres acquired forward Steven Reinprecht from Colorado in exchange for defenseman Keith Ballard.  They then sent Reinprecht and defenseman Rhett Warrener to the Calgary Flames for forwards Chris Drury and Steve Begin.

2007:  Minnesota Wild signed free agents Nolan Schaefer, Wes Walz, and Eric Belanger.

2008:  Minnesota Wild signed free agent Antti Miettinen.

2008:  Tampa Bay Lightning signed free agent Wyatt Smith.

2009:  L.A. Kings acquired Ryan Smyth from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for Kyle Quincey, Tom Preissing and a fifth-round draft choice in 2010.

2009:  Minnesota Wild signed free agent Shane Hnidy, and named Mike Ramsey and Dave Barr as their new assistant coaches.

2011:  San Jose Sharks acquired Martin Havlat from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for forward Dany Heatley.

2012:  Colorado Avalanche re-signed defenseman Erik Johnson to a four-year contract through the 2015-16 season.

2012:  Washington Capitals signed Minnetonka, MN native defenseman Jack Hillen to a one-year contract.

2013:  Minnesota Wild Defenseman - Tom Gilbert (Bloomington, MN native) was placed on waivers by the franchise.

2013:  NHL All Star Team: 1st Team: G: Bobrovsky, D: Subban, Minnesota Wild Defenseman - Ryan Suter, C: Crosby, RW: Ovechkin, LW: Kunitz.  2nd Team: G: Lundqvist, D: Beauchemin & Letang, C: Toews, RW: St. Louis, LW: Ovechkin.

2018: The first statue by Breezy Point, MN Artist Jeff Kreitz of legendary Godfather of Minnesota Hockey - John Mariucci was unveiled with a dedicated ceremony in downtown Eveleth Big Stick Plaza.  The statue proudly depicts Mariucci in his iconic University of Minnesota hockey jersey.

2019:  The second statue by Artist Jeff Kreitz in downtown Eveleth Big Stick plaza was dedicated of Hall of Fame goaltender - Frank Brimsek donning his iconic #1 Boston Bruins jersey that stands proudly alongside Kreitz created John Mariucci statue (unveiled one year prior 7-3-2018).
