1981:  NHL left wing Aaron Voros born in Vancouver, B.C. Voros has played in the NHL since 2007-08.

1983:  Minnesota North Stars signed Tim Coulis as a free agent.

1998:  Dallas Stars signed free agent Kelly Fairchild.

2001:  Minnesota Wild signed free agent defenseman Jason Marshall and free agent goaltender Dwayne Roloson.

2001:  Los Angeles Kings signed free agent defenseman Brett Hauer and free agent left wing Ken Belanger.

2007:  Los Angeles Kings signed free agents Tom Preissing, Michal Handzus, Kyle Calder and Ladislav Nagy.

2010:  Minnesota Wild signed free agents Warren Peters and Drew Bagnall.

2011:  Calgary Flames signed free agent (and Sturgeon Lake, MN native) Clay Wilson.

2012:   Dallas Stars re-signed Minneapolis, MN native center Toby Petersen and left wing Antoine Roussel each to two-year, two-way contracts through the 2013-14 season.

2012:   Anaheim Ducks re-signed Minneapolis, MN native defenseman Matt Smaby to a one-year contract through the 2012-13 season.

2012:  San Jose Sharks re-signed St. Paul, MN native goaltender Alex Stalock to a one-year contract.

2013:  Minnesota Wild made qualifying offers to: Defenseman Tyler Cuma, Forward Justin Fontaine, Forward Carson McMillan, Defenseman Kyle Medvec and Jared Spurgeon.

2014:  Minnesota Wild signed free agent Joel Rechlicz.
