1975:  Former NHL defenseman Chris Armstrong born in Regina, Sask.  Armstrong played in the NHL 2000-01 through 2003-04 with the Minnesota Wild and Anaheim.

1993:  New Jersey Devils acquired Corey Millen from the L.A. Kings, in exchange for a future draft choice (Jason Saal).

1993:  New Jersey Devils acquired Mike Peluso from Ottawa, to complete their earlier trade for Craig Billington.

2003:  In a three-way deal, Ottawa traded winger Chris Bala to Minnesota, Nashville traded defenseman Peter Smrek to the Senators and the Wild traded defenseman Curtis Murphy to the Predators.

2012:  Legendary Minnesota Hockey Head Coach, Bruce Olson passed away after a 2 month battle with cancer at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.  Olson is best known for his playing days at UMD, and serving as Coach for both Roseau, Warroad and Bemidji.

2015:  New Hope, MN native, and former UMD Bulldogs/NHL defenseman - Jim Johnson was hired as an Assistant Coach of the Edmonton Oilers.

2015:  Minnesota Wild selected Joel Eriksson Ek from Farjestad Sweden of the Swedish Elite League, 1st round 20th overall in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
