1939:  Former NHL coach Bill Mahoney born in Peterborough, Ont.  Mahoney coached in the league with Washington and the Minnesota North Stars, starting in 1980-81.

1962:  Former NHL goalie Kari Takko born in Uusikaupunki, Finland.  Takko played in the NHL 1985-86 through 1990-91 with the Minnesota North Stars and Edmonton.

1973:  The J. Geils Band played the 1st ever concert at the newly built St. Paul Civic Center in St. Paul, MN.

1982:  Former NHL left wing Derek Boogaard born in Saskatoon, Sask.  Boogaard played in the NHL 2005-06 through 2010-11 with the Minnesota Wild and the New York Rangers.

1998:  The Minnesota Wild hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the new arena, later named Xcel Energy Center in front of the closed St. Paul Civic Center that was demolished shortly there after.

2000:  Minnesota Wild traded goalie Mike Vernon to Calgary in exchange for the rights to center Dan Cavanaugh and Calgary's 8th-round pick in the 2001 Entry Draft (Jake Riddle).

2000:  Minnesota Wild traded center Joe Juneau to the Phoenix Coyotes for the rights to center Rickard Wallin.

2000:  Minnesota Wild traded goalie Chris Terreri and its 9th-round pick in the 2000 Entry Draft (later traded) to New Jersey in exchange for defenseman Brad Bombardir.

2000:  Minnesota Wild and Columbus Blue Jackets held their expansion drafts, at the NHL meetings in Calgary from June 23-25th.

2001:  Minnesota Wild traded a third round pick and a fifth round pick in 2001 (Shawn Collymore) to the New York Rangers in exchange for a third round pick in 2001 (Chris Heid).

2012:  Minnesota Wild selected: left winger - Raphael Bussieres, defenseman - John Draeger, Centermen - Adam Gilmour, Defenseman - Daniel Gunnarsson, Centerman - Christoph Bertschy and Left Winger - Louis Nanne in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. 

2014:  Toronto's Hockey Hall of Fame announced it's newest inductees into the Hockey Hall including: Rob Blake, Peter Forsberg, Dominik Hasek, Pat Burns, Bill McCreary and Former Minnesota North Stars center Mike Modano.
