1948:  Former NHL left winger Dan Seguin born in Sudbury, Ontario.  Seguin played in the NHL 1970-71 through 1973-74 with the Minnesota North Stars and Vancouver.

1955:  Former NHL right winger Willi Plett born in Asunción Paraguay.  Plett played in the NHL 1975-76 through 1987-88 with Atlanta, Calgary, the Minnesota North Stars and Boston.

1967:  Minnesota North Stars obtained centerman Bill Masterton, goaltender Carl Wetzel, wing Steve Suther and defenseman Pierre Prevost from the Montreal Canadiens for an undisclosed amount of cash.  Both Wetzel and Masterton played together on the U.S. Nationals and with South St. Paul Steers of USHL.

1970:  Former NHL center Mike Modano born in Livonia, Michigan.  Modano played in the NHL 1988-89 through 2009-10 with the Minnesota North Stars, Dallas Stars and the Detroit Red Wings.

1982:  Minnesota North Stars traded Bill Nyrop, Steve Christoff and North Stars’ 2nd round pick in 1982 Entry Draft to Calgary in exchange for Willi Plett and the Flames’ 4th round pick in 1982 Entry Draft (2 days later on June 9th, 1982).

2006:  Carolina's Cam Ward became the first rookie goaltender to earn a shutout in the finals since Montreal's Patrick Roy in 1986, and Matt Cullen had 3 assists as the Hurricanes won 5-0 over the visiting Edmonton Oilers, in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final.

2014:  Rangers' Ryan McDonagh (a St. Paul, MN native) became just the second defenseman in Stanley Cup history to score 13 points over a seven road-game span in one playoff year (joining Bobby Orr) when he had a goal and an assist in a 5-4 overtime loss at L.A. in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals.
