1955: Former NHL left winger Steve Jensen born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Jensen played in the NHL 1975-76 through 1981-82 with the Minnesota North Stars and Los Angeles.
1960: Fort Wayne and the St. Paul Saints play four overtimes to decide a (International Hockey League) IHL Turner Cup Finals game. Saint Paul's Elliott Chorley scored the deciding goal at 1:25 a.m. for a 5-4 victory in a contest that lasted 118 minutes, 29 seconds of playing time.
1969: Former NHL center Dave Archibald born in Chilliwack, B.C. Archibald played in the NHL 1987-88 through 1996-97 with the Minnesota North Stars, the New York Rangers, Ottawa and the New York Islanders.
1970: Minnesota's Charlie Burns became the final player/coach in NHL history to score a goal, when he tallied once for the North Stars in a 6-3 loss in St. Louis, in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Quarter Finals.
1976: Former NHL left winger Jason Wiemer born in Kimberley, B.C. Wiemer played in the NHL 1994-95 through 2005-06 with Tampa Bay, Calgary, Florida, New York Islanders, the Minnesota Wild and New Jersey.
1980: Colorado Rockies signed goaltender Steve Janaszak as a free agent.
1988: NHL center Peter Mueller born in Bloomington, Minn. Mueller has played in the NHL since 2007-08 with Phoenix Coyotes, Colorado Avalanche, Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators.
1991: Neal Broten picked up three assists to lead the North Stars to a 3-1 win over the Blackhawks, in Minnesota in Game 6 of the Norris Division Semi-Finals to defeat the Blackhawks (4 games to 2), and advances to the Norris Division Finals vs. the St. Louis Blues.
1995: Stephane Richer scored two goals and added an assist, and Neal Broten had a goal and two assists as the Devils won 6-3 over the visiting Islanders.
1996: Minnesota Moose of the IHL play their final game in the State, losing 3-1 to Peoria. The franchise drew an average attendance of 4,271 per game in the final season (a 2,500 drop from the previous inaugural season).
2008: Minnesota's Niklas Backstrom made a team-record 44 saves, and Pierre-Marc Bouchard scored at 11:58 of overtime to lead the Wild to a 3-2 win at Colorado, in Game 3 of the Western Conference Quarter-Finals. It was the third straight OT game in the series.
