1971:  Minnesota's Lou Nanne had a goal and an assist as the North Stars recorded their first home victory against the Vancouver Canucks, winning 3-1.

1974:  Mike "Shaky" Walton became the first MN Fighting Saint of the WHA to score 4 goals, in one game vs. the New England Whalers.

1975:  The 31st annual MSHSL State Boys High School Hockey Tournament is held at the Metropolitan Sports Center from March 6-8th.

1977:  Minnesota North Stars recorded the 250th win in franchise history, 3-2 over the visiting St. Louis Blues.

1979:  Philadelphia's Robbie Moore became the 15th NHL goaltender to record a shutout in his first career game when the Flyers won 5-0 over the visiting Colorado Rockies.  Paul Holmgren led the scoring with two goals and an assist.

1982:  Minnesota North Stars extended their team-record undefeated streak to 8 straight games (6-0-2) with a 3-1 win over the visiting Vancouver Canucks.

1983:  Minnesota's George Ferguson and Steve Payne each scored hat tricks in the North Stars' 8-3 win over the L.A. Kings.  It was Ferguson's first career hat trick, the 6th for Payne who also had an assist and Bobby Smith added a goal and four assists.

1984:  NHL defenseman Steve Wagner born in Grand Rapids, Minn.  Wagner has played in the NHL since 2007-08.

1985:  Ron Wilson signed with the North Stars as a free agent and played in his 1st game that same day.

1986:  The 42nd annual MSHSL State Boys High School Hockey Tournament is held at the St. Paul Civic Center from March 6-8th.

1988:  Dave Christian scored two goals and added an assist as the Capitals won 7-2 against the visiting Vancouver Canucks.

1988:  Mike Ramsey played in his 600th career NHL game, while Phil Housley scored his 400th career point in a 3-0 win over the visiting Boston Bruins.  Tom Barrasso earned his 13th career shutout.

1990:  New York Rangers obtained Mike Gartner from the Minnesota North Stars, in trade for Ulf Dahlen.

1990:  Buffalo Sabres signed free agent defenseman Reed Larson.

1990:  New Jersey traded Jim Korn to Calgary in exchange for Flames’ 5th round pick in 1990 Entry Draft.

1991:  Minnesota's Brian Bellows had a goal and an assist to become the first North Stars player to score 50 (or more) points for seven straight seasons (also a club record) in a 5-1 North Stars' win over the visiting Edmonton Oilers.

1993:  Mike Modano scored a goal and added three assists to lead the Minnesota North Stars to a 4-3 win over Montreal at the Met Center.

1993:  The University of Minnesota closed out 43 years of hockey at Mariucci Arena today with the closing ceremonies, various banners were removed from the Arena, and one final center ice player "stick salute".  The final game played within "Old Mariucci" was exactly one-week later (March 13, 1993) a play-off game between rival North Dakota a 5-4 Gophers win in OT).

1996:  The 52nd annual MSHSL State Boys High School Hockey Tournament is held at the St. Paul Civic Center and Mariucci Arena from March 6th-9th.

1998:  The Minnesota Wild announced its first major sponsorship agreement with the Minnesota Wild Mastercard from First USA.  It was the earliest that First USA had ever signed an agreement in advance to a team beginning official play (31 months).

2001:  Wes Walz scored a goal and added two assists to lead the Minnesota Wild to a 3-3 tie against the visiting St. Louis Blues.

2002:  The 58th annual MSHSL State Boys High School Hockey Tournament is held at the Xcel Energy Center and Mariucci Arena from March 6th-9th.

2003:  Wild trailed 2-1 when Pascal Dupuis scored a power-play goal in the second period and led the team to a 2-2 tie against the Predators at Nashville.

2012:  Eric Staal set a Carolina franchise record with an assist in his 11th straight game (breaking Dave Keon's record of 10 straight games in 1979-80) and rookie defenseman (South St. Paul, MN native) Justin Faulk scored at 3:38 of overtime for a 4-3 victory at Washington.

2013:  The 69th annual MSHSL State Boys High School Hockey Tournament is held at the Xcel Energy Center and Mariucci Arena from March 6th-9th.

2014:  Edina, MN native Anders Lee became just the 6th rookie in NY Islanders history to score 5 (or more) goals in his first 7 NHL games, reaching the milestone in a 3-2 overtime loss at Edmonton.

2015:  The largest indoor crowd at 21,609 to ever see a hockey game in the State of Minnesota between undefeated Lakeville North & Eden Prairie in the 2015 State Boys High School Hockey Tournament quarterfinal action.
