1946:  Boston's Woody Dumart scored his 100th NHL career goal and added an assist in the Bruins' 3-0 win over the visiting Detroit Red Wings. Frank Brimsek recorded his 28th career shutout.

1947:  The 3rd annual MSHSL State Boys High School Hockey Tournament is held at the St. Paul Auditorium from Feb. 13-15th.

1977:  Former NHL center Wyatt Smith born in Thief River Falls, Minnesota.  Smith played in the NHL 1999-00 through 2007-08 with Phoenix, Nashville, New York Islanders, the Minnesota Wild and Colorado.

1978:  NHL goaltender Niklas Backstrom born in Helsinki, Finland. Backstrom has played in the NHL since 2006-07 with the Minnesota Wild.

1979:  Former NHL left wing Todd Fedoruk born in Redwater, Alta. Fedoruk played in the NHL 2000-01 through 2009-10 with Philadelphia, Anaheim, Philadelphia, Dallas, the Minnesota Wild, Phoenix, and Tampa Bay.

1982:  Dino Ciccarelli scored twice and added two assists to lead the North Stars to a 6-1 win against the Red Wings in Minnesota.

1989:  Tom Kurvers set a Devils' franchise record for most assists in a game by a defenseman, when he picked up five in an 8-1 New Jersey win over Toronto.

1992:  As part of the Minnesota North Stars 25th Anniversary week celebration the North Stars official announcement of the Upper Deck / KSTP-TV North Stars "Dream Team" was announced as voted by the fans.  Gump Worsley and Cesare Maniago signed autographs in Met Center concourse, including a between-period showdown featuring North Stars alumni Willi Plett, Bill Goldsworthy and J.P. Parise. Following the festivities, Ulf Dahlen had a goal and three assists in a 6-1 Minnesota North Stars' win over the visting Winnipeg Jets at Met Center to highlight the night.

2004:  Minnesota's Dwayne Roloson recorded his 15th career shutout, and Marc Chouinard scored for the first time in more than three months as the Wild recorded their first ever shutout against Edmonton, a 3-0 win over the visiting Oilers.

2007:  Defenseman David Tanabe had two assists as the Hurricanes handed the visiting Los Angeles Kings their 13th loss in 16 games, a 2-1 Carolina win.

2008:  Chicago's Dustin Byfuglien scored two consecutive goals in the first period, and the Blackhawks scord on three of their first four shots on their way to a 7-2 win against the Blue Jackets at Columbus.

2013:  Andrew Brunette officially announced his retirement after 16 NHL seasons with Washington, Nashville, Atlanta, Colorado, Chicago and Minnesota, and was named the Minnesota Wild Hockey Operations Advisor.
