1961:  Former NHL defenseman David Jensen born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Jensen played in the NHL 1983-84 through 1985-86 with the Minnesota North Stars.  Following retirement, Dave became Sr. Vice President with Touchpoint Media - publishing company of USA Hockey Magazine.

1963:  Former NHL defenseman Paul Boutilier born in Sydney, N.S. Boutilier played in the NHL 1981-82 through 1988-89 with the New York Islanders, Boston, the Minnesota North Stars, the New York Rangers and Winnipeg.

1968:  Minnesota North Stars set a team playoff record for most shots in a game, when they took 43 in a 2-1 double-overtime loss at St. Louis in Game 7 of the Western Division Finals.

1968:  St. Louis beat the Minnesota North Stars 2-1, in the 2nd overtime in Game 7 of the Semi-Finals, to become the 1st of the new expansion teams to advance to the Stanley Cup Final. Ron Schock scored the game winner for the Blues at 22:50 of overtime.

1981:  Bobby Smith scored twice and added two assists in the North Stars' 6-4 win against Calgary in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Semi-Finals, in Minnesota.

2013:  St. Paul, MN native Kyle Okposo scored his first career playoff goal as the Islanders overcame a 2-0 deficit to beat the Penguins 4-3 in Pittsburgh in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.
