1968:  Former NHL center Kirk Tomlinson born in Toronto, Ont. Tomlinson played in the NHL 1987-88 with the Minnesota North Stars.

1982: Former NHL defenseman Tomas Mojzis born in Kolin, Czech. Mojzis played in the NHL 2005-06 through 2008-09 with Vancouver, St. Louis, and the Minnesota Wild.

1988: New Jersey's Tom Kurvers set a team playoff record for defensemen when he scored 2 goals in a 5-3 loss at Boston, in Game 1 of the Wales Conference Finals.

1990:  The Gund Brothers agree to sell the Minnesota North Stars to a group of investors led by Hartford Whalers owner Howard Baldwin.  The Gunds were later awarded an expansion franchise for the San Francisco Bay Area.

1991:  Minnesota North Stars defeated the Edmonton Oilers in Game-1 of the Campbell Conference Playoff Finals 3-1 at Northlands Coliseum.
