1947:  Toronto goalie Turk Broda and Bruins' Frank Brimsek dueled to a 0-0 scoreless tie, in a game played at Boston.  It was the start of a team-record 9 game road unbeaten streak (4-0-5) for the Leafs.

1957:  Former NHL right winger Dan Chicoine born in Sherbrooke, Que.  Chicoine played in the NHL 1977-78 through 1979-80 with Cleveland and the Minnesota North Stars.

1958:  Former NHL defenseman Curt Giles born in The Pas, Manitoba.  Giles played in the NHL 1979-80 thru 1992-93 with the Minnesota North Stars, the New York Rangers and St. Louis.

1960:  Former NHL forward Dave Barr born in Toronto, Ont.  Barr played in the NHL 1981-82 through 1993-94 with Boston, the New York Rangers, St. Louis, Hartford, Detroit, New Jersey and Dallas.  He later worked as assistant coach with Colorado, Minnesota & NJ.

1967:  Dave Balon is unsuccessful in scoring on the North Stars 1st ever penalty shot attempt against then Montreal goaltender Gump Worsley.

1968:  Jean-Paul Parise scored twice to lead the Minnesota North Stars to a 3-3 tie against the Maple Leafs at Toronto.

1981:  Defenseman Craig Hartsburg scored twice to lead the North Stars to a 2-2 tie against the Colorado Rockies, in Minnesota.

1982:  NHL right wing Jason Pominville born in Repentigny, Que.  Pominville has played in the NHL since 2003-04 with Buffalo and Minnesota.

1985:  Neil Sheehy had three assists as the Flames won 4-3 over the visiting Islanders.

1991:  Minnesota North Stars veteran Bobby Smith scored his 1,000th career NHL point with an assist, and also added a goal in a 4-3 win at Toronto.  Smith became the 32nd player in NHL history to reach the 1,000 point plateau in an NHL career.

1992:  Minnesota North Stars goaltender Jon Casey made 41 saves in a 4-2 win over the Rangers in New York.

2003:  Wes Walz scored two minutes into the game and Manny Fernandez made 32 saves as the Wild earned a 1-1 tie against the visiting Mighty Ducks of Anaheim.

2007:  New Jersey goalie Martin Brodeur recorded his 94th career shutout, and Zach Parise scored his first career hat trick and added an assist in the Devils 4-0 win against the visiting Montreal Canadiens.

2007:  Dustin Byfuglien scored 3 consecutive goals in 5:29 in the first period (his first career hat trick) and added an assist in the Blackhawks 6-1 win over the visiting Phoenix Coyotes. Byfuglien tied the Chicago record for goals in a game by a defenseman.

2007:  Minnesota's Brian Rolston set a team record for fastest goal from the start of a period (other than the first) when he connected just nine seconds into the second period, in a 3-2 overtime win over the visiting St. Louis Blues.

2011:  Wild won 11 games in one month for the first time in team history, and moved into first place overall in the NHL standings after Kyle Brodziak scored in regulation and added the winner in the sixth round of a 3-2 shootout victory in Edmonton.
